Ganaxolone For Ptsd - Clinical Study

That is so true Girl3. Everyone's PTSD is different and everyone's system is different. So there isn't just one drug that is a fix all.

And as I said I'm already on a very high dosage of steroids. I would not want to take anymore.

I understand Sandra. If you are on high-dose prednisone or a similar glucocorticoid the side-effects can be terrifically bothersome..

Ganaxolone is not that kind of a steroid however and has none of the peripheral side-effects of glucocorticoids - so I wouldn't want anyone else interested in the study to get side-tracked over the word "steroid".

Estrogen, progesterone, pregnenolone, testosterone, allopregnenolone, cardiotonic steriods that effect the heart, DHEA, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), ACTH - these are just a few of the steroids our bodies make and that we require. Allopregnenolone is a steroid neurotransmitter that works in the brain affecting GABA receptors and thus anxiety, epilepsy, sleep, and neurogenesis. Ganaxolone seems to work like allopregnenolone in that it inhibits seizures, produces relaxation of the brain and doesn't effect glucose metabolism like prednisone or muscle-building like testosterone.

I had my last labwork on the 20th but haven't heard any results yet.

Thyroid is heredity in my family. I'm generation 3 for it.

Sandra,

I'm on 200mcg and forgot to put the damn pills in with my others. Hence I haven't taken it for a week and just realised. Now understand the brain fog, slowness and putting on 3 kilos in a week. Dumb, dumb, dumb..........
