@Cannottakethis Congratulations for quitting smoking and drinking!!! !!!! I remember how hard it was to quit both, cigarettes being worse than the drinking. No, I haven't tried Stevia, but will check it out. BTW! We don't have ANYTHING around us. I think the nearest Trader Joe's is about an hours drive. Maybe when I take the week over the 16-24 I can drive there and check it out. Thanks!!!

@She Cat, congratulations!!!

I gave up sugar over a year ago and never looked back. I only eat organic fruit from local farms ( except pineapple which I have shipped to me from my sister-in-law in Hawaii). Don't care for the taste of salt. I stay away from Asian food and most packaged foods.
Everyone I know says I eat the most boring food ever. All I know is that I don't feel like I'm alive but imbalmed.

Like you, I was told to get off sugar after I started seeing a Chiropractor. She took an x-ray of my torso and neck. Then she told me that she had never seen anyone so inflamed. That was it, she said stop the sugar diet I was living on or live in exctrutiating pain the rest of my life. Hell with that idea. Dietary change of the first magnitude.

Now, the pain is still there, but I've gone from living in a constant state of pain between 7 - 9 for 3 + years to a more tolerable 4.

Long wonder way of saying that I'm proud of you, and that it will get easier. Best of luck with

@Milo's papa Weird, but some people I've told that I gave up sugar and went vegetarian, they kind of look at me like I have 4 heads. Then the stupid questions come! So, do you eat fish, or chicken??? NO!!! Do you mean you stopped eating like candy and cakes???? YES!!! :banghead::banghead::banghead: I really want to tell them, No, I'm just faking my way through this for the shits and giggles of it all!!!!

It's getting easier, but next week I go to our state fair... I know I'll f*ck up, but it's my birthday and it's only 1 day!!!!! I'll get back on the horse the next day!!!!

Yeah, and I'm kind of using that day as an experiment to see how I react to sugar after about 5-6 weeks off of it. My pain level is down some, so this should be interesting!!!

You may also consider keeping animal fats & proteins in your diet in a very minimalist sense. Like using chicken/beef/fish stock once a week or so. Mostly so that you don't stop creating the enzymes needed to digest them... And aren't violently ill for several days if you ingest any on accident or out of necessity.

The younger & retiring crowds tend to do so in order to facilitate travel. The accident prone & older crowds tend to do so to facilitate inpatient hospital stays. (While one would think hospital kitchens would be totally up on allergies, intolerances, & restrictions, most -insurance owned- aren't. Even the vegan & vegetarian "options" are usually heavily cross contaminated with animal fats & proteins. So if you're lacking the lipase & proteases to digest them? You're kind of screwed. It's far more cost effective for Insurance owned hospitals to pay out the occasional wrongful death, and anything short of that is seen as your own fault / not theirs, as you were already sick when you came in. A few days of puking? Eh. Such is life. But when you've got chronic pain & other serious health issues, at a bare minimum quality of life is vastly improved to not be puking/shitting your guts out, and tearing up your body, on top of whatever has landed you in the hospital. <<< One of those live&learn tricks that's really common in vegan/vegetarian communities, but normies & newbies tend to be a bit shocked by.

Finally made it to our State Fair today. Temptation EVERYWHERE. OMG! It was awful. Sausage, peppers, onions grinders, cream puffs, fudge, hot dogs, hamburgs, and the cinnamon rolls.... the cinnamon rolls are absolutely huge and they top them with butter cream frosting.... I walked right up, and she asked what I wanted.... I walked away!!! I was so good. The only thing I had was deep fried veggies.... I still have visions of the f*cking cinnamon rolls and I can still smell them. I'm kicking myself in the ass!!!!!!!!!!!!
