Had Procedure Done At Dr's Office - Major Anxiety

I was finally able to get the stent removed from my operation. The stent is a tube that the dr. placed into my urethra when he had to take out my kidney stone.

The surgery was no big deal because I was "out" before they did anything. I don't remember anything about it.

The office visit was a whole nother story.

The removal of the stent only took a few minutes. My dr. is a man. I told him that when my daughter was born I specifically went to WOMEN'S health care. Where all the dr's were WOMEN.

I had to take everything from the waist down off and lie on the table. It was so awful. He kept telling me to relax and that I was going to be okay. I was covering my face with my coat and trying to take deep breaths to calm down. I hated the fact that I had to have my legs spread wide open for this man that I hardly knew. He was being very kind and professional which did help. He kept reassuring me that I was doing great and he was almost done. When it was over he even offered his hand to help me up which was nice of him.

Very relieved it's over. I was shaking and wanted to cry. That feeling went away after awhile. It's ironic that the very thing that gave me the kidney stone in the first place is what helped me get through the procedure: Topomax

. I survived and didn't need to rush home and call my therapist.

((((((((((((((((((Heather))))))))))))))))))))))

I'm thinking of you, Sweetheart...

Please take very gentle, nurturing care of yourself now, to reduce any lingering distress.

I'm glad you had a positive experience with a male Dr. at this level of care. I hope you don't have any further problems with kidney stones, but if you do, I'm hoping you receive continuing, nurturing, healing care.
There are a lot of very, very good and decent men out there. I'm sad you had such pain, and an emergency; but I'm glad you've had a healing experience: both to address your kidney stone problem, and to experience the gentle healing care of a compassionate male in a professional healthcare setting.

You're very brave, Heather! Well done, Hon!

Sending you gentle hugs ((((((((((((Heather))))))))))) with much care, concern and love,
Deer

Ow Lawdy, Heather!!!
It hasn't been to long ago (maybe 7-8 months) since I had those huge, long, thick, stints taken out of both of my tubes! You are completely right when you say AHHHHHHHHhhhhh. When I saw them, I almost passed out. They were over 12" long with the wire circling at both ends. I couldn't believe my body could handle them (even though I was in a lot of pain while they were there)

I had kidney stones in both tubes. One was surgically removed, the other had to be blasted into bits with that sound wave machine. I had to be admitted into hospital due to an infection from the stone. Got through that, and then they did the stone procedure. This is second time I've had trouble with stones. Urologist said worse thing for stones is sweet tea (hot or cold). I always thought it was soda, he said no. Whatever, I only try to drink water and cranberry juice. I sure as hell don't want another soon. Had to wait 1 hour in emergency for pain meds. That sucked. Stones are so ungodly painful..I've heard women say it was less painful to have a baby.

Anywho, SO SORRY you went through that experience!! I'm sending you healing vibes and protection from getting another stone

Absolutely suzie those stents are worse than having a kidney stone and giving birth all wrapped into one....IT SUCKS!!!! The only thing I drink now is water and sometimes juice (crystal light fruit punch). When I stopped eating back in July I stopped drinking soda. I tried 2 sips at a christmas party and now it tastes absolutely disgusting! YUCK!

I drink ALOT so hopefully it won't happen again but who knows. I feel for you. I only had one of those stents in my kidney I don't know how you did it with'em in both! Cheers to your bravery! Hugs. Heather

You know what I realized while I was lying on that table? I was not a grown up but a scared little girl hiding under the covers. That's how I feel most of the time. Like I am 12 years old, 15 on a good day but I haven't had very many good days lately.

Me too. Like my brain is short circuited at around 14. I mean i can take care of myself like pay bills and stuff just I feel vulnerable all time. Scared of my own shadow.

Wow - you pay your bills? How'd you get to be so responsible? I don't pay mine. Well, I do. When the shut off notice comes. My therapist asked me if I really wanted to live my life like this? I said no.

I guess when you severely hate yourself......these are the things you do to prove to the world you're a piece of sh*t.

aww, to be honest, I don't always on time. Usually when they start threatening to either shut things off or they call me. I definitely know how you feel. Somedays I don't even shower. Pathetic, I know. But then I don't even get up some days either. Believe me, I'm right there with ya. I've told my parents ' let 'em arrest me. Then I get 3 meals a day, cable and a roof over my head, that I don't have to pay for'. They don't get it, they really don't. And the crappy part is they don't even try.

OMG - you think yours is bad.....she's an angel compared to the biatch on wheels that I'm related to. She flies around on a broom stick and has the personality to match!
