Hair Cut

I had a mowhawk years ago after leaving, for about 3 years, but other than that, Short back and Sides through and through, as a kid, while in and today I just machine the lot off (well whats left)

And allthough I don`t shave on a daily basis anymore I still do about 3 or 4 times a week. and allways a proper wet shave no machine there. Plus the complete body atleast twice a week. Hair drives me up the f*cking wall.

Just can`t seem to break that mold.

Spent a lot of time in saltwater & a wetsuit?
Waxing.
Hurts in 2 second increments for 30 minutes, then smooth & hair free for 2 months.

Yeah I have the problem I can`t let it grow that long without shaving so you could wax,

But no to water and wetsuit, I done a stint in Belize and allthough I don`t have a problem with creepy crawlys, I didn`t like the feeling of something crawling over hair, over the skin doesn`t botehr me, and thats where I started.

Saltwater + wetsuit + dries on you with hair = giant bandaid being ripped off.
Band aids are way worse than waxing.

If you're ever interested, though... Try wearing UnderArmor HeatGear or ColdGear Compression (or fitted) 24/7 except to bathe. Takes about 3 sessions for the hair to be all in one growth pattern / no prickles, and about a week in UA for it to grow long enough to rip off.

I retired July1 and yes I keep mine. I still don't feel like a civilian yet even after 117 days of terminal leave.

I've enjoyed having freedom to do what but I found out I prefer the basic military look (at least 2, but sometime 1 cut) with the freedom to shave less often.

I cut my own hair with a dull scissors.....when the spirit moves me or I get bored. Wish I would just go bald, but it is not in the cards. And I'll be damned if I shave my head. That happened once and life went decidedly wrong for many a year after. Sailor, superstitious as hell.

On the SS Mutiny we had a contest going. How long could you grow your hair without getting caught. We all wore ball caps so you could stuff allot of hair up there. At some point during the day somebody would come up and say "check this out" Whip off his ball cap to reveal shoulder length hair. I think we had one PI inspection in the course of a year, so you could grow it loooong. The O's wouldn't mess with the NCO's much. Not unless they wanted to get on the death threat list along with the Captain.

Ahh the good old days when the khakis were so scared they would lock themselves in their room at night.

In my darkest days, I didn't even want to leave the house to get a haircut. So, I had electric dog shears. Zip, zip, zip, no hair cut for a month or two. Wore a baseball cap, so, it just looked high and white. I didn't care. All I wanted to do is sit and drink and watch the news. Hell of a way to lose four years of one's life.

The short of it. After allot of unauthorized experiments a Gun turret blew up Killed 47. All of G2 Division and a quarter of 2nd division.

Then they forward deployed us...short one turret.

Then they cut off replacements.....double work, no sleep.

Then they sent us to Lebanon for "Contingency Operations" A nice term for unreported warfare.

After 2 weeks off of Lebanon the ship was ready to pop.

In reflection....the Captain probably should not have gone to Paris for 2 weeks to sip wine with his wife while we were in the yard for much needed repair cut short by emergency deployment. Captain Superstar later caught up with us by Helo wearing some really sexy sun glasses bought in Paris. That was probably a defining moment.

Bald and goatee when I was in 98-2012. It was all clean high and tight couldn't be any other way I grew up in Germany at my first duty station 1/63AR in Vilseck. God Bless the Big Red 1 for putting bad ass soldiers into the fight.
