Happiness Challenge Round 2 May 7th

Day 11 May 4th
1. Three new things you are grateful for today : my neighbors, my friends, the weather
2. Journal about a positive experience in the last 24 hours : doing hypnosis on a friend in need - excellent results
3. Exercise : no, unless you count making bread as an exercise :p
4. Meditation : fell asleep again :(
5. A random act of kindness : got a chair for an ederly lady so she could sit with us outside.
 
I wrote this poem about today's Positive Moment:

DIAMONDS BEFORE DAWN

Looking out my window
listening to the rain
hundreds of diamonds
dancing on the screen.

Reflecting momentarily
the true beauty, light
of my precious Jesus
forever in my sight.

1. I am so grateful to realise and become aware of the guilt and self loathing that I am carrying in regards to my family. I can give it back now.

I am grateful that I am in week four of weaning off the anti depressants and through struggling I am hanging in there.

I am pretty frozen but I am managing to get out and do something each day.


2. I went to an incest survivors art workshop yesterday and spent some nice time with two sisters. That was really nice I realise that instead of hiding away from people that I can make connections.

3. Exercise - I really hurt my back badly this morning. I am in a lot of pain. I have done some gentle yoga stretches and I will have to take this one easy until I am not in so much pain.

4. Meditation completed, approximately 30 minutes.

5. Random act of kindness. I talked with an elderly woman. I was friendly to a new person. I comforted an upset person. I gave positive feedback to someone who is not used to it.
 
Oh yes, there will be some Hootie Hoo's. I have been trying to decide if I want to try to do both Bree's 30 day challenge and the round 2 of this one... it's hard to say. I know though that I want to expressly try the exercise, meditation components for another 21 days so will probably ride along there... but then I offered to give someone and her client two peacock feathers to use to play with their cats. Her client's is shredded and it just so happens that I said I would bring them by on Tuesday, which happens to be the first day of the new challenge... so my brain is still framing up random acts of kindness. Who knows at this point, a lot of it has to do with my work schedule and if I can be expansive enough to do two challenges at once. Some of Bree's challenge questions are going to be hard for me.
 
Day 12 May 12th
1. Three new things you are grateful for today : being with my second son; feel more calm after the almost accident; having a beautiful day.
2. Journal about a positive experience in the last 24 hours : my son asking advice about his love life and trying to understand how he can save his couple.
3. Exercise : Tai Chi
4. Meditation :Done
5. A random act of kindness : calculated my mother's Angels and sent it to her with her Mothers' Day card.
 
Ready to go tomorrow!

I exercised and meditated today.
I am grateful that I got my grades in with 13 minutes to spare!
I am grateful for good colleagues at work.
I am grateful that my (step) daughter called me today.

I was patient with and helped out someone in the check out line at the store yesterday. Still looking for kindness opportunity today!
 
I am grateful for what a beautiful day it turned out to be.
I am grateful for The Golden Girls repeats they make me laugh.
I am grateful for sitting in the sun and reading a good book earlier.

I exercised by gardening.

I meditated by watching the DVD Healing Waters.

A positive experience was that I got an interview for graduate school scheduled for this week.

My random act of kindness was to garden for someone who isn't physically able to.

1. I am grateful that I saw my psychiatrist today and she pointed out that someone who is abused like me - well they end up having a life like mine and that I keep returning to how bad I feel about not living a life that I am not exactly precise about how it would have looked. So there is some major irrational thinking going on there.

I am grateful that I am seeing more deeply how I contribute to my life by putting up with unacceptable behaviour from people. I talked specifics with Judith today and that was good. I have a high frustration tolerance for being treated badly it seems.

I am grateful that I have friends to ring and call and chat to - I had forgotten about them and those connections that I do have.

2. A positive experience is that I had intense SI last night but managed to ring a friend, sort through it and then later on go and work on my resume for a couple of hours. I was worn to a frazz but I got through. I got home late and I got up early but I managed.

3. Hurt my back so I have to wait until I get a bit better to do much. I will do some gentle yoga stretches.

4. Meditation was short and brief for ten minutes this morning but I was very tired.

5. I held a door open for a less able bodied person. I smiled at a man who beamed back at me. I asked a woman when she was getting off to make sure I didn't block her egress. I texted a few people some cheery messages.

So not a lack lustre performance and not brilliant either but okay, I got through the challenge today.
