Health Issues

I have a ton of health problems, too many and some of them are hard to explain, so I will just say I have a lot.
I don't feel like they are related to the PTSD (I did not experience any abuse, that is not the cause of my PTSD)
I do think though, that on my bad days with the ptsd, it makes me not as motivated to get moving and exercise and do yoga like I should.

Since my most serious instances of abuse came with concussions, and at one point a traumatic brain injury, symptoms of the physical injuries trigger emotional ones, and vice versa. The two are forever hand-in-hand, it seems.

Any form of physical injury to the head, neck, or upper back comes with a whole history to relive. Just as anything that triggers those memories often causes symptoms of physical injury where none were recently sustained. Its odd, scary, it just is.

Hi! I think mine are a mixed bag. What I do know from experience and from reading is that anything inflammatory is aggravated by stress and therefore PTSD. Caused ? I'm not so sure. I do get somatic pain as well so that would be caused. As would some of the headaches and symptoms I get but I think the rest is aggravated. There would also be the difference between the PTSD causing something or the traumatic experience causing it (for example an injury).

Our poor bodies are worn out by the relentless assault of cortisol etc. Its very interesting to see research correlations between illness and trauma. Maybe someone will post a link here.

But all my immune and inflammatory stuff rears up when my PTSD symptoms do or when my sleep decreases.

Just curious does anyone suffer from physical or health conditions? Do you think it's related to PTSD...

PTSD most definitely will change your physical health. The disorientation that comes along with PTSD causes you to also physically stumble over many obstacles. As many times as I have hurt myself physically on objects simply because my brain was not operating correctly I now truly believe that PTSD manifests itself over and over in my physical health. It will cause you to have anxiety attacks which stress all of your major organs, including the heart muscle. PTSD will often drive sufferers into unhealthy nutrition phases which then mirror themselves in negative physical reactions of the body. PTSD will cause sufferers to make detrimental decisions in life which then will add an insurmountable mountain of following stressors that influence the physical health of every fiber in our bodies. Many of such diseases we often notice very much later, often years later.

I did read it after someone told me in their response. Sorry-if I saw it-I wouldn't have posted this...
It is OK, I think there is enough room for both threads and they each have their own slant too, which helps. If someone misses one of them, they will most likely find the other. It'll all work out!
