I am so glad I found this site. In one day it educated me about how ptsd affects sufferers and how they react when in crisis. Before I could say I knew she had ptsd, but just no clue as to how this manifested itself.
Reading your experiences I see how the ptsd sufferer says and does things that are hurtful to their loved ones, but they do not have the control. Is that right ? The statement sounds vaguely demeaning, but I don't mean it to be.
I told her she didn't need to shout and scream, (commenting on the negative effects it has), but she says she can't help it it's just the way she is, and I have such a hard time with that. Esp. when I'm not the target, and can see how others react to it.
Just on here for support and advice as a carer, and how to best treat her when she's in crisis. Have been living with this for 15 yrs.
Thanks

I've been reading on and off for months, and tried to sign up, but there's a glitch in the signup process ane either it didn't like "-" in the email, or an sbcglobal address I don't know. Finally managed with my work address.
