i don't know what section I'm in but, i came up with a way to help loved ones deal with ptsd and believe it or not it works and it takes zero study. my kid learned it in minutes. i told her when my cup is getting too full i will say ' red button' that means i am in a danger zone of losing my temper which neither of us likes. so when i say it, let's make everything stop. everyone just stop doing what you're doing, stop saying what you're saying and stop. she does. and i calm down and we talk rationally then. and i am more able to express my needs to her than when i am in the red zone. hope it helps. i told it to my friend with severe ptsd and his fiance and they are using it as well. :)

Good idea. It can work on children at a young age, but trust me Elise, once the kids get past 12 or 13, they don't think like that. They only care about what they want.
I raised my boy for the last 5 years as a single Dad, so I know where your coming from. We used to have a retreat password too, but it does not solve the issues.
Now I have a house full of teenagers. Margaret s two daughters 18 and 17, my boy 14, and her boy 12 and they don't let up.

However, if it works for you now, then that is great. It will help you to get further along into managing your symptoms.

sounds like you're dealing with a gang not just a small kid now. well, the thing i do is after I calm down I discuss the issue that started it with her. i hope it continues to work. as i said it's just something i tried out of the blue after watching the video on this site. so far it works. maybe in a year it won't and i will have to deal in another way. but i will deal with that when it comes. i have enough pain and issues right now to deal with to even think that far ahead.
