Hello, my name's Sarah.

My husband served in the UK Army for 22 years, leaving in 2004 and collapsing with PTSD in 2005.

I've been doing ok for a few years, but something changed in me just before Christmas and I really started to struggle. The last thing that I want to do is harm my marriage or hurt my husband, because he's not the way he is on purpose - he's ill and I need to learn to live with that.

I'm a member on the Combat site and have heard great things about this site so thought I'd come and say hello... and help!

Hi Toria,

A very warm welcome to the forum. I too am an ex UK Army from the 80's and a sufferer of PTSD, so I can sympathise with you as I know just how hard it has been for my wife as a carer.

I found this site by accident and I'm so glad I did, as the support and help on here from likeminded people has been overwhelming. I hope you can get as much out of it as I do.

Is your husband a member on here or the combat site too?

Warmest regards, Sean

Hi Toria

Welcome to the forum.

Come down to the carers section, where you will find loads of help information for you as a carer. It is not easy, but we keep going, find strength from those who have been down this road before us.

Have you set up your own support system, as it will help a great deal. maybe look at this page Toria. 2 very useful web site's and Carer organisations in the UK. I have and still use the second one a lot, a great place to go pour your heart out when it all gets too much. There will be one near you just search on the sites, just click on the link below and it will take you straight to it.

Take good care of your self as much as you can now. Oh and maybe let your GP know you are a carer if you have not already done so, as they should help and support you too.

Hello Amethist - thank you so much for the links. I've never really thought of myself as a carer - it's just something that I live with. I will certainly see if they have any advice though - thank you.

Hi Sean, thank you for the welcome. No, Rob's not a member on here or on the Combat site. He's not exactly proactive when it comes to treatment!

Hello and Welcome Toria. :)

Love the picture of the dog husky, right? So cute!

Hope you find the support and peace you are looking for. :)

Thank you Ayesha - yes - that's my Husky! She's my baby!
