hi everyone! I'm a survivor of sexual abuse. I have PTSD and Conversion Disorder. I'm in Ohio. I'm a published writer. I don't own any pets. I would like to get a service dog for PTSD related illness but haven't figure out how yet. I'm seeking support here and other sites. I'm having a hard time in life. I can't seem to get away from my abuser no matter what I do.

Welcome poet! Check this forum and the PTSD forum wiki out. Lots of info and good people! Stay warm and safe you are having some storm there in Ohio!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I'm finding the board hasn't had much activity. I don't know maybe it will change over time. Hope to get to know everyone here.

Hi,

You are right this forum can be quiet , but it can be very difficult to reply at times. I am sure you will notice just how many times a thread has been viewed even if nobody has replied. There is a lot of fear in putting things down for others to read.

However, I am glad you are contributing. The more there is for others to read the more we will break down those barriers. That is the way, not only for us to move forwards ourselves, but also to help others.

There is not a spell checker built into the website, but I use Firefox as my Browser and that underlines (in red) questionable spelling as I go along. Some I correct others I leave as it tries to change my UK English to American English !

As for the grammar, the best way to sort that, if it is a real problem for you, is to write the post in MS Word ( or some other program) which has built in checkers and then copy and paste onto here. If you do that you need to use the 'eraser' icon on the top left of each reply to take out any formatting and then it will be in the correct style and size of font.

However, on here the rules are not strict - although some would not agree with me. It is simply about writing in a way that is clear for the traumatized mind to read. Paragraphs broken down, using basic punctuation like full stops and capital letters.

I do find if I use a mobile device ( such as my phone) it is much more difficult and more errors slip through. But even then, you do have some time to make corrections after posting.

If you are really worried that you have made some terrible error and have run out of time to edit it yourself, you are welcome to 'report' your own post and request it be edited by moderators. You will see the 'report' button at the bottom of every post, and it is not just reserved for reporting spam etc.

Hope this helps?

Please don't worry about it!

The reason I asked about it is because I had an accident a couple years ago. I had to reteach myself grammar and basic writing skills so my grammar isn't as good as it use to be. I'm constantly refreshing my memory with teaching tools.
