My partner of 5 years was diagnosed with PTSD earlier this year, and has since suffered debilitating physical and mental stress. I love him very much, but have got to the stage now where I can't cope, and find it increasingly hard to give him the support that he needs, as I'm suffering badly now too. He drinks heavily and also uses online chat and easily drifts into casual relationships with other girls which he seems to crave for self-validation, which is affecting our relationship badly. So far the doctors have been very slow to respond with any coherent advice as to a treatment plan, or possible help and support, although he has been time and time again - I am desperate for any advice and emotional support anyone out there might be able to offer, as I feel awful that I can't seem to give him what he needs, and am feeling very broken right now. Thanks for reading - Jen

Welcome to the forum Nej (Jen). If you keep reading other's stories here in the Supporters section you will find many with similar stories. You will be able to get some ideas on how to cope from reading about their journeys with their loved ones.

Is there actual help available for your husband or are their long waits to see qualified people? Is there someone you can go to also? Many partners find that they benefit from help themselves.

You have come to a good place, welcome.
