Hi everyone. I've been reading this and my combat PTSD forums for quite awhile now and you all have been invaluable! My boyfriend of 4 years (also my highschool sweetheart) is a combat veteran with 8 deployments'. Needless to say he has PTSD. We are in a good place now thanks to the VA. Yes, you read that right. In my experience they saved my veterans life !! He is now going to group therapy and see's his therapist monthly at the local Vet Center. He is motivated to get a handle on this "beast". He was untreated for 20+ years and now that he has someone who actually cares for him and gives a shit about his wellbeing he is determined to have a good life. We have good and bad days but the good definitely outweigh the bad. So there is a little bit about us and there will be more to follow, I'm sure. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to exchanging information with all of you.

I do have a question for anyone who would like to reply.... Jim has nightmares EVERY night which makes our mornings hell some days. He wakes and doesn't know where he is. So he wakes up mean and nasty. Do you have bad mornings? And is there a solution to this? I try to stay clear if I can tell he's in a bad mood or not in the present. But sometimes there is nothing I can do but listen to the fury. Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Hi and welcome!

There is a med called prasosin that some take to reduce/eliminate nightmares.

There are threads on it you could search, or conversely you could start your own thread in the medication forum asking people for feedback.
