New Here
I am currently in PA and back in therapy after PTSD resurfaced after helping a family deal with long term sexual abuse (go figure).

Twenty years ago I was given a "death sentence" and told that with my background I could not expect to be normal or whole. Thank God for progress!

I have been in therapy and on meds but still struggle with explaining this to others.

I will keep reading and what not - just wanted to say hey and thanks for providing this forum.

Hi lemonstangel! Welcome to the forum!:thumbs-up

I'm glad you seem to be doing much better than 20 years ago. Unfortunately, as we say around here, "PTSD is the 'gift' that keeps on giving". If we can help, let us know.

See you around the forum!
Beth

Hi lemonstangel

Welcome to the forum.

Read all you can, it will help. Ask any questions you like, no question will be left unanswered.

There is no rush for you to explain anything, it is entirely up to you what you want to share on here. Whatever you share will be understood, as most are in a similar boat.

Good luck and take care.

Hi Lemon

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you here. Well done on defying your sentence and fighting through. That takes guts and it sounds as though you are also developing support around you, the forum can be another part of that.

Keep reading and posting

Hiya Lemon:hello:

I can relate to that one! Like the old song goes:

"Now everyone knows an ant - can't - move a rubber tree plant. But she's got high hopes!

Oops there goes another rubber tree plant..."

Welcome to the Forum!:thumbs-up

Hey there Lemon...

So glad to welcome another survivor and fighter to this forum. Times have changed in the health field over the last 20 years...thank God is right!!

I've always had the feeling that when I tried to explain my symptoms, history and pain that I couldn't describe things very well..or at least I felt people were confused with my explanations. Sometimes just being around others that have experienced similar trauma can help you understand that you are expressing yourself just fine.

My favorite saying for me is "remember, you are unique just like everyone else!" There are a lot of outstretched hands on this forum to help you process what you need to process. Hope you take full advantage. :thumbs-up
