Hello everyone, I just found this forum today and am thankful for it.
I have been a police officer almost 20 years and almost 2 years ago was involved in an on duty collission that caused multiple injuries. My career as a police officer will soon end because I've had a series of surgeries and the last made it clear I won't be able to physically do the job anymore. To top it all off, the person who hit me was intoxicated and I just sat through the trial.
In April I began counseling and was diagnosed with PTSD. I am struggling now to deal with all of the issues you talk about on here but only recently began having flashbacks (I've had nightmares a few months) and am trying to learn how to find my triggers.
I thank you all for the good information I've gotten from reading your discussions today and I hope I can continue to learn from those of you who have been dealing with it longer than I.
