My last roto we had a Medic with us that liked being at the front. Not only did he patch us up and start the IVs, but when the 2 way range started, he went through more ball and trace then any other vehicle. Mind you, I never used ball and trace. Why waste time with pea-shorters when you have a 105 sitting right there. Point is that the medics and mechanics were right there getting shot at too, and even though they were NOT COMBAT TRADES, they often saw more then the infantry guys did. Not to mention that I had allot more armour around me then those medics did. But they were right behind me waiting if I needed them.

At the end of the day, the truckers were the craziest bunch we had. Hauling fuel and ammo over the same roads I was driving. But they were in 10 tons, and I was in a tank. Sure they had an escort clearing the route, but with command detonated IEDs all over the place I really appreciated having that foot thick armour cocoon all around me. All they had was 1" Kevlar plates and blast blankets. That takes balls.

@ zipperhead, no offense...I don't play well with others. I'm bitting my tongue since I know I'm in a triggered/agitated state, but my POINT, the field medics were, and from what you say also are, MALE!!!What's your point???? You've pointed out male and men no matter what the MOS or LMOP but what about the ladies? I am really pissed off since today some OEF/OIF young wipper snapper had the fing balls to ask me if I was a DEPENDANT while waiting for my VA appointment.

Yes, I'm sensitive. When you've seen guys and gals getting blown up together and the men get medals and the women forgotten...you get a bit sensitive cause it could of been me. Then I would have been forgotten, hope things change but doesn't seem like it.

T^3, I was in he Canadian Army. We have females in ALL trades. One of the 3 medics we had with us was female, and 2 of the mechanics were. About half the truckers are women, and although none of the tankers my last trip were girls, I had a female crew commander on my 2002 roto. You see, I don't differentiate between male and female. They are soldiers.

Obviously you are having issues with a perception that men will treat females as inferiors. I think if you were to ask around here my opinion is more one of "give them a chance to prove they can't just like we do with guys." So your hostility seems to be abit misplaced. I know that when we are triggered we tend to go on the attack. Well suck back and reload, have a look around, and if you still think I'm a dick so be it. Hit the ignore button, and voila, you won't have to see me anymore.

I've been lucky in the fact that everyone I served with didn't care what gender you were. All they cared about was that you had their backs and could pull your fairshare of the workload. The biggest honor I got was when a group of Army Rangers started calling me Doc and would buy me drinks because I rescued on of thier guys and took excellent care of him. In the field they treated me like one of the guys and they knew they could trust me to have their backs.

I guess it just depends on who you serve with. Maybe we had to set the stage for females in the future to get the recgonition any soldier deserves. I know a couple female helicopter pilots that have received medals.

Well if it is all about who gets the most medals. You are all f*cking thick as shit.

FFS you can have mine, they don`t mean shit anyway. Seen to many good people go with out and not complain, and seen to many wasters get the the big shit.

Its all about going there with your multiple, looking after your opos back, while he/she/it is looking after yours and coming back home.

Medals don`t, can`t and won`t replace the pieces of you that you leave in theatre.

We tried to welcome you to the forum, but apparently you have a bug up your arse about being a female and not getting the recognition, well you aren't going to get it from us.
You don't join a forum them have a go at a bloke because he used the word 'HE', or 'HIM'.

I will let you in on a little secret.......

We all have PTSD, we all have anger issues, and we all get agitated. This forum is a group of brothers and sisters trying to find ways to survive day by day living with this beast.
The biggest mistake you can have on here is abusing someone in the first person, which you did.

You seem to be the person with the problem about the different sexes, we don't.
You also seem to be the person with the problem about medals, actually if you ask the majority of the guys on here, you will find that they don't care about medals.
And if you check out this thread, you might find it an interesting.

The best suggestion I can offer is that if you are getting angry because of something that is written on here, don't get personal, just don't read on, or turn off your computer, and if you think they have singled you out, PM them, but you will find that if someone says something insensitive, they are usually jumped on pretty quickly.

In the UK and still serving(until my medical discharge) you get recognised for being a soldier first. I have never wanted to see what their first name was first, before making an acknowledgement for what they have laid down. I said it once before cos i was on the receiving end. Only true heroe's are not here to tell you about it. My 2 penneth !

I thought that was my line. Welcome to the forums. Sorry you've been through the shit.

To me, anyone that does a job and doesn't get the credit for it is just F**Kin' wrong in every way that I can think of. We're all in the same boat here, so I think someones got a paddle, but I don't know who. Glad you found us and Glad you made it back.

Been through some shit with the VA as well. I'd love to stand on their necks with jump boots. Always get me too. Some of those people are too stupid to be working. Anyway, again Welcome.
