Hmmm... Party Season

I do love party season. For us... there are lots of functions typically to attend, outings and so forth. Christmas can be shitty at times for other reasons, but the party atmosphere I do like.

Let the drinking season begin! Well... this is my drinking season... about the only time of the year when I do drink.

January onwards until December is for my liver to recover. :cautious:

Hmmm. The Party season. I have to say I get a bit grumpy and 'bah humbug' this time of year :( .

I always feel like I'm missing out, because I end up working when all the parties are going on.

Christmas eve is my favourite time to go out. Head to the pub about 11.30 am (have to get there early, to get a seat!!), and stay there till about 4pm. Everyone's always jolly and it's early enough to leave before anything too wild goes on!!

Sadly, I can't indulge in that this year, because I'll be at work (and grumpy!!).

In my younger days, going home at 4 pm was unheard of..... the drinking would continue until midnight, when we'd stagger over to the church and sing our hearts out at midnight mass, much to the dismay of the older church-going generation, who where still looking forward to their first sherry of the year on Christmas morning!(And they didn't think much of the younger generations singing abilities!!)

However, I remember most of those midnight masses ended in bladder agony, after sitting in a cold church, desperate for a pee, due to alcohol consumed earlier!! All followed by a Christmas day hangover!

I'm much more sophisticated these days though :p Christmas dinner just isn't complete without a glass or two of champagne ;)

So, were you the inebriated person who sat behind me at midnight mass in about 1967, patting me on the head and telling me what a good little BOY  I was, that memory has stayed with me. :p

I absolutely hate the thought of going to parties. However once I arrive, I'm usually OK. Dutch courage in the form of wine helps loads.

Wishing everyone a great festive (party) season. As I'm on my own booked a guided tour to Germany with a bunch of other single people over the Christmas period, has to better than being on my own.

(((Loloma))), good for you. I think if I were on my own, I'd do something similar.

H and I have told our children not to feel pressured into coming home for Christmas. The youngest (22), will be home, my eldest (25) and her partner will come home on Boxing Day.

H and I have said, when the time comes when neither of them want to come home, we will go away for Christmas.

We agree, we would never want the girls to feel pressured to return home. They are adults and as difficult as it is, they need to be free to lead their own lives.

I hope you have a wonderful time
