New Here
I am new here. New to forums.. somewhat new to PTSD... or at least to recognizing and acknowledging it outside the drs office and counseling. My goal is to find hope, peace, and healing... and hope to make friends that understand what living with PTSD means. I am married with 4 beautiful children. This wasn’t part of my “life plan”.... but here I am. I am a survivor. And now that I am past surviving... I want to find true healing. My guess is that it’s going to be like a journey and I have a new person at my side. “PTSD” maybe someday I’ll give it an actual name... right now I’m trying to decide if it’s a friend or enemy, weakness or strength, whether it’s role is to hold me back, or help me be a leader, keep me from life, or be my teacher. My guess is it depends on where I am in the journey. Hope tells me it’s going to lead me to greater things. Hard days.. feel like it’s going to suck the life right out of me. So I’m just here. Hoping to both find friends and be a friend. Hoping that I can relate in a way that feels like “not being ok” is ok. Look forward to meeting you.

Feeling not okay IS definitely okay. Although it certainly doesn’t feel that way many times out...

Sorry.. learning how this works..
Yes... in the world around me.. I realize there are probably more silent sufferers than we realize... but since we don’t have visible ways to identify... it feels like complete isolation... and beyond physical isolation... emotional and social isolation is soffocating.

Where is a good place to start... ? Forums and opening up are both new to be... and somewhat intimidating. But I made it here.. ideas of where to go from here?

*new to me

I usually go to the tabs titled New Posts and Trending Topics and start reading posts. I read for a while before I started posting. Then, you can also go to the forums section and go to which section may apply to you. Does that help or make sense?
This site has wonderful admin and they will help you too and respond pretty fast. I’ve never felt judged on this site and everyone is so welcoming and understanding. It makes me not feel so alone.

Never thought about naming my PTSD.... but have said we belong to a club we never wanted to join.... I'll have to think of a name... interesting.

Glad you are here, and you will make friends... so many here you will relate to, and us to you.... reading around is a good idea... This is a huge place...not intimidating, only large.... Hope to see you around !!
