Thanks for all your well wishes. Its 4:06 am. You hydrate, you have to take a leak every two hours.
Getting better slowly. They tell me the surgery was a challenge. Apparently there was a whole heap of scar tissue from my bowel operation in 08. Apart from that, to any of you girls who have had a c-section for childbirth, I know what it feels like. It hurts like a bitch to cough, sneeze, fart, shit and even burp.

I allowed my Exercise Physiologist to come in and watch. He said the L5/S1 was only 5 mm in depth. Shit in other words. I almost had bone on bone.

Doing well. Bored as shit though.

augh...I hate being bored too! Makes me think too much and my mind is worse enemy! So I feel for ya!

Hang in there, though!! Couple of days and you will be home and hopefully on enough pain meds that you will be a bit more comfy.

I wouldn't have thought it possible that you are up on your feet so quick, that's amazing. Are you getting any morphine for the pain, sounds like you could do with something special. Just a little tip for you..... no dancing just yet ;).

All the best
xx

The procedure is called an ALIF (Anterior Lumber Interbody Fusion)...
Google it, there is some great video footage.

I am still on Morpine, Endone and other pain relievers. I will be swimming in 3 weeks.

So yesterday at 5 pm I was feeling like shit. Margaret suggested the Doctors. Nah. She'll be right. Anyway, 11 pm in the Ambulance. Now in Hospital with multiple antibiotics. Secondary infection. Temperature of 108, 39 in our language. Sick of needles and not sleep

O'Aussie - Im glad that you listened to Margaret..sory about the needles, but hoping the aitibiotics kick in do their job and get you back on track to recovery.

My prayers and good thoughts are with ya !

Jimmy I'm glad you are at the hospital. That temp is really high. I hope all straightens out and your good to go home soon. Good luck buddy!!!

In the unlikely event of you having to do an "emergency landing on the water", as it were. Can I have all your stuff?

Jimmy! So glad you went to the hospital and they got you right on antibiotics. I hope they kick in and you feel better soon. We're sending good vibes to you and will post something in jokes and/or quotes for you to read.

Hang in there! Kudos to Margaret.

Damn man, that's a really high temperature. If you didn't know they were waiting to see if you'd fart to know that your gastrointestinal tract is functioning again properly. General anesthesia impairs peristalsis (the squeezing that your insides do to move food through you for digestion) and if you ate chances are the food would just sit there and not move which brings all kinds of other complications. Don't know if they explained that to you or not, I'm in nursing school and hope you never have to go through surgery again.

Hope you get well soon man and I'm glad you went back to the hospital.
