I've been reading so much lately about how trauma affects us physically. How does it affect you?
  • I have a constant lump in my throat due to anxiety.
  • I have a lot of headaches
  • I have TMJ in my jaw
  • Sleep deprived
  • I have body tremors at times. Especially at night when I am trying to sleep
  • Feel exhausted a lot of the time
  • No appetite

  • I have a constant lump in my throat due to anxiety
Same as you and:
  • Feel like I can't catch my breath, shallow breathing
  • Crying for no reason
  • Crushing heart pain
  • Churning stomach
  • Numb nose and can't seem to sniff in air
  • Lungs not feeling they inflate fully
  • Dizzy spells and brain fog
  • Feeling sick
  • Unable to rationalize thoughts
  • Cramps in arms and legs and around ribcage
  • Aches around stomach, spleen and liver area
  • Chest pains and tightness
  • Choking sensations and unable to swallow periods at a time
  • Fuzzy vision
  • Trembles, shakes and electrical surges inside the body, feeling like blood drizzling!
  • Tense jaw
  • Feel like I have stopped breathing before I sleep. Sometimes wake up gasping for air
  • Heart flutters, sometimes paces fast, palpitates and other times it can feel it's slowing right down!
  • Tingles up and down arms, around the lips and in the fingers and toes
  • Burning sensations around the chest, neck, throat and jaw.
  • Jittery and on edge.
  • Feelings of not being here, not being with it.
  • Some parts of the body cold and other parts hot at the same time!
So much more, don't want to take over your thread! It's like dying and surviving to only die again and survive that too! If that makes sense!

Past and current (some of this has resolved):

Chronic tension and pain (in a few areas, but especially my back)
Numbness
Feeling I exist a few inches outside of my body
Inability to recognize basic cues, like hunger
Buzzing, electric feelings all over
Feeling like my back is separate from me, but attached
Extreme sensitivity to sound
Sensitivity to light, worse when I'm amped up
Tightness in throat and jaw
Inability to speak or vocalize in any way
Feeling like I'm all over the place, like my nervous system has blown out like outside my body
Feet and legs going numb and limp when triggered
Dizzy, faint when triggered
Shaking, especially in hands
Hyper alert, inability to slow down or sleep
Feeling trapped, immobilized, like I'm submerged in a shallow pool and will die if I move or even breathe too deeply
Empty, like my body is an empty shell or exoskeleton left over by a dead crustacean
Heart palpitations
Feeling sick or like I have to throw up

Convulsions every time I relax. I was in the dentist's chair recently and finally started to relax and my body jumped. The nurse said, "Do you have seizures?" I quickly answered, "No," but thought to myself, "Do I have seizures?"

  • chronic pain in my joints (Zyprexa for PTSD/Schizophrenia seems to help minimize the pain for me).
  • a lack of physical coordination as if I'm always walking on a narrow path requiring short slow moving steps.
  • I need to rock myself frequently (like right now) with or without a rocking chair.

It really gets me physically fir some reason. None of my symptoms are really all the time but can be consistent for a while depending on how I'm doing.

Lump on throat (almost feels like my throat is closing up and it sometimes makes me unable to swallow)
Jaw pain/tension
Muscle aches/tension
Ocassionally headaches primarily in my eyes
Floaters in front of my vision
Foggy vision
Feeling unreal/removed from myself
Excessive hair loss
Tremors in my hands
Fast heart rate
Tight chest/breathing issues
Nervous habits (finger twisting, repetitive fidgiting)
Rumbling stomach/ bowel changes
Weight fluctuations
Acne
If I'm processing trauma I can get cold or shiver

Back, neck and shoulder stiffness and pain, as well as permanent lumps in my neck from how tightly knotted my muscles are.
Shallow breaths, yawning (but unable to) a lot.
Stomach and gut problems, especially when anxious.
Excema and seborrheic dermatitis (crade cap for adults), exacerbated by stress.
Vertigo and random allergies, how bad seems to depend upon my mental health.
Insomnia.

Previous mysterious illnesses, since resolved, include an erratic heartbeat and chronic fatigue.

Umm off the top of my head:

Muscle aches/spasms

TMJ

IBS (its much worse when Im having a particularly rough mental health time)

Frequent headaches

Dizzyness

The shakes (same as IBS)

I'm usually "stiff"

Sleep issues (insomia, messed up sleeping patterns)

Sensitive to sound and movement

I'm sure there's more, but that'll do...
