I mentioned this in another posting as an 'incidental'. I am doing this course which is a free online course (MOOC) through Coursera. It is the second time I have started it and hope to finish it this time. I think it took me a bit to digest it last time so I quit it (I was also moving now that I think about it).

It is called 'Think Again: How to Reason and Argue' and is helping me BIG time in understanding the difference between what I think an argument is and what a reasonable argument is. The first part of this course is really good too because it refers to a Monty Python skit called Argument that puts humour into arguments.

Just thought I would post this as it has really given me a new perspective on the subject.

Can anyone sign up? If so, place in the link, please.:hug:

I went a free 15 CBT on-line course and it was awesome. I would love to go over 'dialoging' again if stateside is permitted.

Yes, it originates from Duke University (coursera.org) so I am guessing you would have access before I did given my location, @Recovery4Me . You will need to create an account but I have had one for ages and there has been no bad from it.

Seriously, if I had known half of this stuff I wouldn't have spent most of my life spinning around in my head because people were feeding me useless garbage that I thought I had to ward off.

@shimmerz I just wanted to pop in to light a candle for your journey's rest and let you know prayers are with you. Although knowing a clearer method for communication is always sound...it will not stop the 'other' from being unkind.

Please be kind to you and know you are lovable no matter how -or- who you are in the moment, my warrior-friend.:tup:

**Just found the site! So excited and will get back you on it.

This is a great reminder, thank you! I stopped, thought about this and realized that in putting it into perspective, I have wasted so much time not knowing how to deal with MY thought processes when someone attempts to argues with me. I thought all arguments were the same! I am learning I shouldn't be afraid of them. Honestly, My brain would completely lock up (freeze) on me if anything resembled what I considered to be an argument. I guess I learned as a child that I could never win any argument - I never had a chance. Now I can choose to engage or not and even just knowing that has taken the 'freeze' out of me. I can actually talk this week if someone starts to back me into a corner! Life changing.....

I am so happy that you like the site! Let me know how it goes for you!

Signed up @shimmerz for a positive psychology course that starts in Feb. So I thank you.:notworthy:

Let me know about how your class is going and some thought. (You can even throw in a paper or so right here!) Why not? We all love to learn here!:hug:
