General Hubby Seeing A Man Who Is Not There And Hearing Voices

I am a sufferer. I see things all the time, usually closer to the ground. I swear it's a dog, but when I go look, there's never anything there.

For me, I think it has to do with my hyper vigilance. I am always waiting and looking out for something or someone, and I think sometimes I am seeing things out of the corner of my eye that are harmless and benign and I interpret that as being a dog or person standing there. It scares the crap out of me though.

Curiouser and curiouser... I decided to speak to Husband about this last night, thinking that if he did still see his cat then I could maybe say something about having read that other people see things too and perhaps show him a few of the articles and well, try to get him to research things a bit too - or at least listen to the things that I have found.

So I asked him if he still saw the cat. He gave me a really funny look, said no and then clammed up. I knew there was more to come so I stayed silent. He looked at me and said that I had freaked out enough about having a cat in the house so he wasn't about to tell me about the rest.

In fairness I hadn't freaked out about the cat - I do have a slight problem with ghosts... but once we figured it wasn't something I could see then I was fine - sort of!

Well, eventually he managed to tell me that the cat has gone, but that now he sees people.

I had no idea what to say. I felt as if I'd just opened the biggest can of worms on earth. I do use humor to try and diffuse situations, and all I could think to say was "you see dead people":oops::oops::oops: Thankfully I managed to keep my mouth shut but I had the phrase going through my head all night.

I had so many questions, but i didn't want to press him - he had tears in his eyes as he was telling me. Thankfully, when all is said and done, we can still keep a slight element of humor in our relationship and when I asked him (with a bit of a wobble in my voice) if they spoke to him he looked at me and said in a deadpan voice "I'd **** myself if they spoke to me"!!!

He did say that he doesn't see them during the day, only when he is tired. It then transpired that he sees them in our bedroom . I asked him if they were men or women, adults or children and he said they were a mixture - some adults some children, some male and some female.

He was obviously reluctant to talk about it but I really did think I needed to know more and they seem to walk through the room, not speaking to him or interacting with him. He then - I think tellingly - says that he only sees them when he's tired. I asked him if he was awake or if it could be a dream or something on the verge of sleep. He said he would swear he was awake, but then opened up even more and said that he feels as if he lies awake all night and that's when he sees them, but that I tell him that he does sleep so he's not sure anymore.

He said he doesn't see them when he's completely relaxed and sound asleep - but that he hasn't felt that way in years.

Apart from being rather shocked by this latest disclosure I also feel wretched that he's been awake and "seeing dead people" possible petrified (although he'd never admit that) and I'm lying there oblivious. I know he has trouble sleeping but I had no idea he felt that way.

It seems that we've both become so wrapped up in our own problems that we've forgotten to include each other :(

Toria, sleep is a funny thing. As I understand it from sleep researchers the first two stages of sleep don't really "feel" like sleep - when you wake someone up from them, they say were not asleep - although they looked like they were sleeping and most of the physiology is sleeping. There are also such things as lucid dreams - where you dream but feel like you are awake - a lot of T's use this (if patients can do it) to work through issues. I am wondering if your H has ever talked to any of his people, and what they've said? With the right coaching he might be able to use these "apparitions" to do some major healing work.

I'm sorry you guys are just now talking about it - but glad you are! Better late than never

As a Survivor I tend to go in and out of seeing things but primarily hearing the voices, music, chatter, voices. Funny how a cat seems to be a reoccurring theme here, hmmm, prior to my major break that is what I saw time and again.

One thought about the twitching, I have gone through my waves of doing it but be safe I would surely mention it to the doc to be sure it has nothing to do with any new meds as some can be the culprit and a reaction.

Please take good care,
Rain

Hi Eleanor - I was wondering if it could be attributed to strange sleep patterns. I read once that people who "experience" Alien Abduction are actually in a "wrong" sort of sleep - something to do with the frontal lobes of the brain - their body is paralised as it is in sleep (to stop you acting out dreams and nightmares) but your brain is between awake and asleep and can see things that aren't necessarily there. Hmmm, I feel some research coming on. I need to know now if he sees them anywhere other than the bedroom as that would scupper that idea.

Rain - thank you so much for the insight. I too was thinking how odd it was that the cat was a reoccurring theme...
