New Here
Hi, my name is Hugh. My wife has PTSD stemming from multiple stresses including a bad miscarriage and I am the brunt of the dissociation and anger. She has just started counselling, but I am burnt out from dealing with her "teenage" behaviour for 6 months. We have five kids and I'm trying to save our family. I joined in hopes of getting some support and learning from the other members.

Welcome to the forum. There are lots in here with the same issue. Read through some posts that will hopefully help you.

Hi Hugh

Welcome to the forum.

There is a lot of information on here that can help you both. Unfortunately you being the closest to her, is the reason for you being the target for her anger. Maybe the first threads you should read are the ones about setting boundaries, may sound harsh, but doing that can be a good start for both of you.

Come down to the supporters area, you will be made welcome, and be offered any advice, support and information you may need to start this journey of healing together.

No one will tell you it will be easy, no one will be able to tell you how long it will take, a lot depends on how your wife takes to the therapy and any treatment she is offered.

Remember to take care of yourself along the way, and no this is not being selfish, it is a vital part of life with PTSD.

Take care.

Welcome Hugh,

Hope you find some support here to lessen the load of every day life. Things sound tough for you right now with your wife and its important you look after yourself aswell along the way. Its often those closest to us that bear the brunt and we hurt the most when trying to deal with the effects of PTSD, its not normally intentional but sometimes the fear and emotions are overwhelming and sometimes people lose sight of things.

Hope you get some support here and that your wife improves soon.

Hi Hugh

Welcome to the forum :). This is a great place to learn and, although this may sound strange, as well as learning about the symptoms of PTSD and how they affect relationships, you will learn the importance of taking care of yourself.

I hope your wife finds benefit from counselling, it takes time and effort, so please be patient.

Support is always available here
