I know i should not have laughed but it was his own fault.
My darling husband is totally useless at DIY, which is why i usually end up doing everything apart from using the big boy's toys like drills, angle grinders you know the stuff i mean, because he Say's it's a man thing, yea right we've all seen Home Improvements.
The story is as follows, We needed a new rack putting up to hold our new mountain bikes up off the floor. So i bought one to fit both bikes, this is where it seams i went wrong as there where no fixings supplied with said item. No problem he says ( i started to tremble even at this point ) I've got plenty of screws and raw plugs it will be fine, ( no it wont, this is where i should have stepped in to check he had the right fixings for the job, but no leave it to him after all it is a man thing ). So he drills the holes fits the plugs and screws the rack to the wall, then swings on it. No problem it took his weight, and he does now way 10 stone plus a bit so the bikes should be OK, he said.
But remember this is a man who openly admits he is c##p at DIY.
I then am called to help him position the bikes together on the rack so they do not scratch each other because the space they are going into is only about 4 foot wide but 8-10 feet long. Both bikes are lifted onto the rack and he stands back against the opposite wall, so about 2 feet between him and the bikes if that.
Within seconds of him letting go and standing back the rack complete with bikes came away from the wall and pinned him to the other side. He could not move as his legs were crossed in the position he had stood back in and one of the bike pedals was jammed in his ribs.
He was not hurt just pinned, so after a bit of maneuvering of bikes and rack i got him free.
Why had this happened you might ask, because he did not use the right fixings, ordinary screws and raw plugs that were not long enough but also they were into breeze blocks so he should have used special fixings.
I WILL GO BUY SOME TOMORROW I KNOW THAT'S WHAT HE SHOULD HAVE USED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I did say after i got him out that maybe i should have left him there for a while, gone for a coffee or a walk even, there was nobody about so he could shout all he liked he would not have upset anybody.
So come on you guys if you don't know how to do some thing, ask us girls we do know a lot more than you ever give us credit for lol
He did the funny side of it in the end and admits he needs to consult me more about this type of thing.
So for his next trick, no we won't go there lol
