It has been released here. I had never heard of it. But I think over here it is a bit of a joke and a flop. It is just referred to as a porn movie and in my Pilates class we were joking about how we would be curious to see the type of people who were going to see it (i.e. dirty old men in rain coats).

Even the bdsm community hates the book/movie. I'm not handling it well either, especially when clips from it show up on social media, or ads play unexpectedly on the TV. Unfortunately it came out today (valentines... because, y'know, domestic violence is romantic apparently...) and it's looking like it'll be very successful here :(

I havent read it or seen it but based on what Ive heard it would triggering for me too. Another movie I dont like for the same reason is twilight. I think it glams up what clearly an abusive relationship.

I haven't read or seen it either but a lot of my friends have. Thankfully most of my friends (regardless of gender) agree that it's a disgusting portrayal of a relationship and has glamourised abuse. I knew I could never read it without being triggered, but I don't think I would want to read it on principal anyway.
