Sexual Assault I Can't Get Past My Trauma?

Sometimes it takes awhile before we start to feel better.

It can take time to learn coping skills, and learn which ones help us the most.

Do you feel that you're making any progress at all with this therapist? On one hand, healing takes time, but on the other hand, not every trauma therapist is going to be able to help us heal.
 
Service animals can be quite helpful. Even just having a pet can be calming.

There are a number of people here on the forum with service animals, so maybe it would be a good idea to start another thread about a service animal so that you can get feedback from them.
 
One of the things I got personally called out on was "moving the goal post"... when something would be achieved instead of acknowledging the progress (be it big or small) I'd just move it/move on to the next item(s) on the list. It denied me the opportunity to acknowledge the progress I'd made. Just food for thought.

Time, consistency, just noticeable strategic improvements (actualized) equals progress.

Look into Somatic Experiencing by Peter A Levine; that's a therapy that could help you if you truly want to change what's going on.

Before looking for an S.E therapist, you can always buy one of Peter A Levine's books on it so you know what his therapy is based on and what it does.
