The trouble I find is that one never knows when something graphic will pop up and thats the way it should be in a diary. The person who's diary it is should feel free to say what they need to and not feel they have to be taking care of others. People have enough shame already.

And yet I am not in a place where I can deal with anything graphic. And so I tend to stay away expect for the rare occasion and I avoid those diaries which regularly have triggering material in them. A shame.

You're not a jerk at all. I also don't read trauma dairies as they feel so personal. I have read a couple in the past and honestly I think about those people still and wonder what can be done for them and if they are okay. I think it's one thing to see yourself go though this but to see another person who you can't help is..
