I Found A New Grounding Technique

Yes, I used to use hot and sour (crazy like) candies to ground. Worked unbelievably well. Just be careful to brush your teeth or use salt water to stop the acidity from wiping out your teeth. It did a number on mine and I didn't realize it at the time.

DBT suggests using sensory input to ground. This could be anything really, sight (look around the room naming out loud objects, color, etc., all done with intention...mindfully), hearing, smells, touch....you could even create a box with various items in it to use during a flashback. My problem is that when I'm in the throws, I just don't think of doing these things at the time....lol

This was never enough for me. Not even close. I needed a real jolt and even that, many times didn't help.

Smells, however, given the way the olfactory works, is the most direct hit to the brain. Super helpful stuff.
