I Need Attention

@seedling, Unfortunately, its a lot like that. I's like that for all of us, to greater or lesser degrees.

This is something I wrote for the book I'm working on. Not sure where to put it yet, but maybe its pertinent now:

Nazi death camp survivor Victor Frankl wrote in Man's Search for Meaning that "It is the very pursuit of happiness that thwarts happiness."

So f**k happiness, especially its pursuit. To pursue happiness is to compete with others, like rats racing each other through a maze at the end of which is only enough cheese for a few. Seek instead purpose, meaning, mission. Happiness can't be reached without first reaching the fulfillment those things bring. And you may find that is enough.

I decided to start this thread because I am over it at the moment.
Another way would be to simply ignore the posts you find so annoying. Reaching out and asking for support is new to a lot of people and a healthy thing to do, but of course it's not for everyone. I hope no one needing support or a friendly word is intimidated by being called "attention hungry temper tantrum people." People can only be where they're at right now. If it bugs you or you don't have energy for it - skip it and go on to the next thread.

@WillyKat
Gives me a few thoughts on myself so far. I have spent a lot of time up till now in vain, trying to proove to someone that I am worthy... Still, can't proove it to myself, and thats what matters. Food for thought.

attention hungry temper tantrum people who just need some attention
How do you, as a reader, decipher what is real need and what is attention seeking?

Much more to the point, how do I as a poster and as a person decide when I am experiencing a need and when I am making a fuss?

I suspect that most of the time I err in the direction of keeping stuff to myself, both physically and emotionally. For instance there have been three occasions when I haven't gone to A&E with injuries (not self inflicted) that probably needed it . I generally didn't report self harm, and don't report overdoses. I often look afterwards at the posts I do make here , and think "What a load of ****". I should just have got over it"

Well picking up on what [DLMURL="https://www.myptsd.com/c/members/radise.9318/follow?_xfToken=28947%2C1423141372%2C98f65ec28499f11aba6ad29b4571e87496c14a79"]

all had to say. Nothing wrong with wanting attention. We all want it, especially as a child. We may grow to need less, but if we grow that way too much we become isolated. So please except this attention. Still not figured out how to get the funny pictures in a post, so just imagin a group hug.
