Ideas On How To Override An Auto Fridge Defrost?!

Help. Have unpacked fridge. Have taken out ice. Have switched fridge off. Am hoping against hope engine will switch on when I switch fridge back on. Its a fridge freezer. Christmas dinner may be coming early.

There's usually a plate on electrical appliances saying exactly what it's called - make and model number. You should be able to look up the instruction leaflet online

The only thing I can think to suggest would be to fill a bucket with hot water and close it up in the fridge for an hour or two, while it's still empty. If there is ice blocking the flow of air from the refrigerant motor, that should solve it.

If that doesn't help, you might have a burned out motor. That's not so simple to fix unfortunately.

If the weather where you live is below freezing you can always get a few of those travel coolers and pack up the food outside. Just make sure to put weights on the lids so neighbourhood critters can't get into the food.

Thank you @berlinda and @Neverthesame ! I think I am understanding the thing more now. It seems once they get to a certain point the inside needs to get warm enough before the compressor goes back on. Managed to remove the ice in one block and tweaked this and the compressor is on again. Phew!
Berlinda I did that but have to admit couldn't really make sense of it. :-/
Neverthesame those are really good tips.

Lets just hope the food is OK as its been playing up since yesterday. Have tried various things since then and no luck until now. Probably put it off and on around 10 times. Thanks peeps.
