Its the same general concept as a abused women's shelter or a LGBT center. The legalities while extensive aren't impossible. I think that this idea could have a real future with the right backing and some intense dedication. Plus you need funding, and local support. Then there is appropriate staffing and ample volunteers. You would need a few therapists willing to donate time on-site and a company willing to donate or discount supplies for day to day operations. Instead of a game-room have a day-care center since there are single parents out there or couples that are having those really bad days. Maybe once its established add in a game-room and a small healthy snack-bar. This just me musing lol

I'm not thinking about opening up a women's shelter. I envision a place where battered women can go to learn more about what's available for them. Like a first-stop place, as well as a place for PTSD sufferers, and supporters.

From what I hear from a grant-writer locally, because of the current economy and high unemployment, grants are being written mostly for food/shelter, etc. To those giving the grants, basic necessities are a priority, rather than a place like I have in mind. It doesn't mean that it's impossible to get going, however.

I guess we'll see what happens in the months to come.

I just wanted to say good luck with it all Angus - to have the idea in the first place is one thing, but to then get up and do something about it is just fantastic. I wish you every luck in the world!

From my point of view I would love Husband to have somewhere to go that would improve his quality of care and / or life. I would also love somewhere to meet people who are in the same situation as I am.
