If We All Lived In The Same Town....

You know how it goes, just because you feel up to being a leader today doesn't mean you will tomorrow.
I really like this concept..... and if I am president this morning, perhaps if this afternoon I am too tired, or affected somehow, someone can step into my place, without judgement.... *ahhhhhhh* This world (besides Shimmerzville), is run ALL wrong.

The last session I was actually telling my T that I just now realized why the classic job interview question "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" always made me go "WTF?"
Recently I was applying for a passport and a neighbour tried to convince me to pay a little extra to get the 10-year one vs. the five. I couldn't relate to that idea at all. Just nodded and smiled agreeably.

I'll stick to providing drinks (*coughs in Simon's general direction*and rescue operations*cough* :p ).
One year of being class president turned me offa politics forever. :roflmao:

Just for the record, though: I love voting on stuff, so I'd like to register for any chance to tick a box in the future.
We have to decide on the color of our dumpsters, after all, no? :)

Could we just wake up and ask "Who wants to be president today?"
I like that.

One of my favourite books is The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. If you like historic fiction, this one is genius. It's set during the time of independence in the Congo in 1960 or so. They are having their first election. The villagers can't see the logic in the system. To them, a system where you have 100 people voting and 51 of them get what they wanted, means 49 didn't get what they wanted, which means almost half of the people won't be happy, which means there will be division in the village and people won't get along. To them, that spells disaster, and the only way to get around it is for everyone to sit around the fire and talk until they come to an agreement about what should be done. Much as I don't like long meetings, I agree.
