So, I've been in the band a couple of months now. They are a very friendly bunch.
We practice once a week, and then a group go to the pub for an hour or so, after. So I have been going to the pub too. It's all very sociable with lots of light-hearted banter. We have played two out door events also, since I joined. One was a village fete on August Bank Holiday Monday, and the second was last Sunday in a public park. We were really lucky to have the sunshine on Sunday. Quite a few people turned up, with deck chairs, just to sit in the sun and listen to the band, and we've had a lot of positive feedback from those who listened. We've had a rubbish British summer, and an hour or so after we finished playing the heavens opened, and the rain poured down.
On the bank holiday when we played, the weather wasn't so sunny, but it did stay dry. After playing, one of the members and his wife hosted a BBQ, which was really nice. So not only do I get to play Music, I have met a whole bunch of lovely people, who enjoy being sociable, and having a giggle - good times :p
We have a few more informal outings, but at the moment we are practising for a 'proper' concert in mid October. Then loads of stuff planned for December - I love playing Christmas Carols :D.
For the first time in years, I have a life outside of work - YAY!
