Just to let you know this is my first post. Sorry if Im doing something wrong forum wise.
We are both 18 years old. We have been dating for 4 years. (all through highschool haha) he is extremely funny, nice, cute and just such a sweet person overall. I knew that he had been physically and emotionally abused as a kid but I didn't know the extent until yesterday. Me, him and several of our mutual friends were at the park talking and he quickly got up, walked away and said he would be right back. We all noticed something wasn't right, so I got up and found him. He was hyperventilating and I asked him what was wrong, and he said he didnt want to cry in front of me. I told him that everyone cries and Im worried about him. I hugged him and he finally told me that he keeps having flashbacks from his childhood. His dad would come home drunk and angry. He said one flashback he was having was when he was 8 years old he watched his dad slap his 7 year old little sister across the face multiple times in a row while she was screaming. He told me some of his other flashbacks involving his mom, his sister, and himself being physically abused. He then starting lightly crying almost acting as if it was his fault. I kept hugging him and I told him I loved him.
He's going to go to a psychiatrist to see if he has PTSD. I love him so much and I'm really worried about his mental health.
Thanks
