Hi,
I'm also very interested in your husband's experience at this center. My daughter is 19 and has been suffering from PTSD for a long time. We live in Washington and I haven't been able to find a place that will care for her. She needs the coping skills and, although 45 days is a long time, it is so worth it if on the other side she is happy and healthy again. Thank you for any information you may have about this place or one closer to me!

I know you're on the west coast, but I'm going to recommend a hospital on the east coast, anyway. It's Sheppard-Pratt in Baltimore, md. It is a nationally known program in a top psychiatric hospital. People go there from across the US and Canada. I learned almost all of my coping skills there, as I spent 7 weeks in their care. Unlike MANY other programs, it is trauma focused, not eating disorder focused or drug and alcohol focused with PTSD being a distant second.... It appears that Sierra focuses on processing the trauma (as per their website), but if your daughter doesn't even have basic coping skills then jumping into processing so quickly could be a mistake. Your daughter may have to learn coping skills and be able to effectively put them into practice before processing in order to ensure her safety. Good luck!

Thank you. I appreciate the information and will look into this place. I dont care where she goes as long as she gets the help she needs. The next issue is how to get it paid for. I am unable to qualify for a loan since I had to file bankruptcy a few years ago when I was sick.
