That is a pretty interesting read. I've heard of the damsel in distress falling for her rescuer plot before. One thing i seem to be missing is how it would be inappropriate for you and the officer to become friends. Unless he was in a relationship and trying to creep. Maybe someone can enlighten me here.

@Deo Juvante Love between a man and woman is a many splendored thing. Realistic love has grown from less than the scenario outlined here. Super good stuff when built on realistic expectations.

Love between a knight in shining armor and a damsel in distress is a fairy tale. Lives built on fairy tale expectations tend to lead to the heartbreak and chaos built on delusion. The more glamorous the wedding, the more bitter the divorce.

Motives count.

Even if this guy is no longer involved in @runover's case, there may be some kind of time constraint or other professional barrier that stops him contacting her. But who knows, stranger things have happened, as @Bedbug says.

@arfie- I understand and completely agree with having realistic expectations for a couple that's planning for long term. In fact, its absolutely essential, but they hadn't even confirmed with one another (other than body language) that something's there. I may be wrong, but for me that seems to be a little early for expecting anything. Your spot on with the extravagant wedding ends in an extravaganza. I still dont see how it would be inappropriate for them to at least hang out other than updating reports. He has no involvement with her case, so there's no conflict of interests. She is not an officer, so fraternization is out the window. Im with @Bedbug on this one. I was hoping for the story book ending as well. @runover, you made the choice that best suited you at the moment, so congratulations on remaining strong and standing firm. Godspeed all!
