Hello, I am the wife of a Viet Nam veteran diagnosed with PTSD about 10 years ago. We had a crisis this week with him having a seizure (first time this has happened) and then a psychotic break when the EMTS arrived to assist him. I believe that the seizure may have been caused by his risperidol..He has been on too much in my opinion..1 mg in the morning and 2.5 mg at HS, along with 40 mg of Paxil. He has been on that dose or higher for 10 years. The one good thing that may come of this is they have begun to titrate him down off both. Looking for other persons or carers with experience with risperidol (risperdone) and their thoughts on this medication.

Meds have made my PTSD much much worse. The paranoia, the anger, the sleep issues........but many here find they help. It is hard decision.
