Hi I am mustangrachel. I a young lady that has gone through a very painful past 3 years. I'm now out of the mental, emotionally, verbally, physically, and sexually abusive relationship that now has left me with PTSD. I feel I do not have a sense of what's normal.my family try's hard to see my point of view but most of them just tell me "the past is the past forget it" but I have horrible nightmares (I just got put on meds for it)..I have the strangest fears. Most of the time I just feel alone and out of control.

Hi Mustangrachel,

Sorry you have been through such a hard time. I understand how frustrating it is when family and friends don't understand. I have been told similar things too. It doesn't help.

The information on PTSD on this forum is really useful.

Hope by finding others going through similar is helpful for you. It's helped me.

It IS very hard when people tell us to just "get over it"... But fortunately you'll get none of that here as we all know that simply getting over it isn't an option (we've all tried it, and it doesn't work!)
