Introduction

Hi,

I'm a 48 yr old F and have several incidents throughout life that I'm struggling with - CSA and date rape. And I've been in and out of therapy since 17 and am now in school earning my Masters to become a counselor. PTSD has reared its ugly head in the past few months and has become very debilitating. So, I went looking for a PTSD forum and found the link to this site, which is actually where I needed to be.

I don't know whether to post my history here or in the "Your Story" thread...

I'm sorry you had such a difficult childhood. (((Hug))), if you accept them.

I'm pleased you are working towards your masters, I know how hard studying is when you're struggling.

Personally, if/when you feel ready to tell us your history, I think you'd get more responses starting a 'story' thread.

Maybe starting a diary here would help too?

I also found this site through the PTSD site, congratulations on wanting to help others, it's very courageous. I want to finish school but keep finding barriers with this trauma stuff popping up all over. Welcome, I am new here too.

Me too - MS in Mental Health Counseling. I'm screwing up because I'm having such a hard time concentrating. I'm behind on homework and that's making me feel worse. All I want to do is surf the net, just not for info for my papers.

Are you a paramedic?

Yes. I am currently a Paramedic. I love my job. Once I get my masters, I will still work as a medic. It's part of who I am. :)

I've been an EMT-B for 6 years, volunteering with my town's corps. for 8. I love it. It's amazing how useful mental health counseling skills are in the EMS field.

How long have you been a Paramedic?

If you want to post you story (your history) in it's entirety, post it in "my story", if you just want to post bits and pieces daily / weekly along with day to day issues, use a diary here.

Either way, whatever, we look forward to hearing more from you :)

BTW, I'm a Paramedic, in the UK.
