Anyone know any quick tricks to shut intrusive thoughts up?!
I'm at work trying to focus and all I can do is replay every argument my bf and I have ever had around him betraying my trust...
It's pissing me off
I wanna just let it go and move on and forward like a normal person :(

Can you learn the lyrics to a song you really like? Say them over and over in your head.... When the thoughts drop in uninvited. Something upbeat :)

Are you experiencing residual anger and not able to get rid of it? If not why?
Unresolved arguments? No solutions? Not be listened to? Not be acknowledged? Not being taken seriously?

Are you still with him?

It has helped me in the past to jot the racing thoughts down. Not in detail just a one or few word note. It seems to get it out and over with.

Music has helped too, try some binaural beats music.

I've had some luck by reimagining the intrusions in a way that is not so disturbing. For example, imagining that my very calm therapist will enter the memory and interact with the memory. With repetition, that addition seems to become part of my recall and calms me.

for me and I used to be really bad at this and thought this was normal way of living (yapppppp all day in my head).
Lately, though, I learned this is my young part or parts being triggered and I just ask what can I do for you? I am sorry you are struggling, please let me know what can I do for you? i talk to my inner childs as if they are children (which they are) and I am the adult and I soothe this way. It could be you are in the midst of stress time or decision you have not made or something is in the back of your mind and it is rallying up your inners.

One of the best day of my life was when I asked why are you afraid of this person? and the answer that jumped at me was I feel threatened by her! I was floored!!!!!

Ask what is it you want and hope the answer comes to you? Sometimes I even find there is no answer just silence! wonders. Because I find it meant for me I was ignoring or rejecting that part of me and now that I acknowledge, I felt good and fell into silence.

Our body is smarter than our brain in this sort of things. So connect the two.

Tbe crappy thing about intrusive thoughts is that the more you try not to think about them the more you do / will.
So give them space and let them come ... i will sometimes say to my thoughts “ go on then do your worst “....
Write them down on a piece of paper and then enjoy ripping up the paper.
Put your mind to something else ie a crossword puzze, jigsaw etc
Play some music and dance / exercise to it.
i think @Friday puts it perfectly

go on then do your worst “

Yep to this, when they are of some topic I semi processed another day or few, and have time for it.

Letting them run and when finally exhausted, returning to the activity I was about to before.

When not having the time? Whatever it is making them be second thoughts, third thoughts, fourth forths... not the most immediate, just background and background noise. Something sensory that will snap most of me to here, while that rest lags behind and drags on.
