Is Guilt Normal?

Thanks @Solara for tagging me.

I do get accommodations like Solara does but a few more things.

I always fee like the disablilies services are like a middle man between you and the school. If you have an issue, you tell them and they will talk with your teacher. They will not tell your teacher why. Your reasons why are private and are not shared. You do need to give them document to show what issues you are having. For me: Bipolar Disorder, anxiety and PTSD.

1) I get 'relaxed absents' which means I can be absent more then the average student. However I don't abuse this and I only use it if I have document to back it up. I have been absent a few times this term but non of it mental health related so I haven't used it yet...With this you can tell your teacher or you can just tell the services people and they can help you with it.

2) I am allowed more time on assignments if need. I have used that a few times this semester.

3)water in class

4)Breaks as needed (helpful too)

5) Seating up front(which I do anyway).

I was in a place like you are talking about a few years ago. I didn't talk to them until later in the term and when I did I had really no choice but to drop the classes. However they handled it for me. I had just gotten out of the hospital and they talked with my teachers, got special permission from the dean of the school so my classes could be dropped without getting an F and then the final class I did have I could do it from home...

Hope that helps.

I am just confused as to why, when my therapist is through the college, she didn't mention any of this when I told her I wanted psychotherapy after getting my diagnosis because I was falling dangerously behind in classes.

Your school won't provide psychotherapy. Not sure if that's what you were suggesting the school provide that for you . I apologize if I misunderstood. Information about disability services are provided at registration so she probably assumed you were already aware of those services. She could have reiterated the information but the important thing to remember about the counselors provided at school is that they are usually Grad students. Not that they can't be helpful but I wouldn't trust a student with my treatment plan.

@Dee Morris No. My counselor is a certified psychiatrist. She was legally allowed to give me my diagnosis. She is one of the only two who has a degree at our schools counseling center.

Oh that's good. The counselors at my school are only grad students. I get 8 free sessions a semester but I don't trust them with anything PTSD related.
