If I were you I'd do a way with the registry site. I would make a list with prices and discounts. My reasoning behind this is weddings are already so expensive and this way you can save the 300 and spend it else where on the wedding. Maybe send the registry out with the invitations.

My grandma made all the dresses for my aunts wedding, including the flower girl's. Turned out wonderful. I liked having my wedding dress custom made. Your choices above are beautiful.

We had cheesecake and not in the traditional way a cake is set up. I like your idea too. Very cool.

Humor is something you are definitely going to need to bounce off any negativity or pressures from anyone else. Plus the stress of just having the planning.

Just thinking, you can set up a website for free through wordpress.com. That is what my blog is through and it costs me nothing. Of course they do have extras you can buy for more money. That might be a solution.

Well, I could use normal stores, but the price is damned ridiculous, so I'll create the list within my website, put the company's details up, and they can have the option of either sending me the money for the gift, purchasing the gift through the company and getting it sent to them, or having it sent with all the other gifts in one go.

I'm really going to enjoy making the dresses with mum......after seeing a rather chubby friend of mine put her even chubbier bridesmaids in hot pink satin dresses........I will most definitely make sure that all my girls look nice for the special day.

For me, I have really pretty bridesmaids, I see no reason why I can't make sure that they look really pretty too, it should be a day to spoil everyone with a nice time, nice clothes and nice food.

The website itself I may try and rip the code off of, and host it from my own web server that we have running at home, but truth be told, I don't mind paying a little extra if it means that I don't have to screw around with directories and root folders when I'm brain dead.

Still not sure about what to do for the wedding 'cake', but so long as Rhett is happy with the menu and the other bits and pieces, it should be all ok.

I was ringing up some of my great uncles yesterday (I know them better than my uncles), and the youngest of them has already started telling me when and where I should get married and what other people have done.......sigh.

Like I said to my old man......my wedding, my special day, MY RULES.

I was talking to fiancee last night, and I said to him that so long as he is happy with my choices then I don't care what anyone else says or does, he is the only person that really matters.

I received a nuzzle and a kiss and he whispered in my ear, " your choice is a BEAUTIFUL one, and I love everything you've done."

My second wedding was planned and executed within 24 hours. (Eldest stepdaughter needed to get on my insurance to get surgery for her shattered ankle. ) It was very nice indeed. We had an ice cream cake and everything. :)

Look, registries are just "lists of what we want/need that you could buy us" right? So do a wish list for the two of you on Amazon. Free and international to boot!

My sister had me and the other bridesmaid go shopping for dresses together - the ONLY constraints were length and color, those had to be the same and they had to be some shade of blue - but we were to each buy a dress that suited US and that we would certainly wear even if we weren't in the wedding. It was loads of fun AND we both actually got lots of use out of our dresses! I did that for my first wedding, and I don't know how they managed but my bridesmaid (from different states!) showed up with dresses that were identical colors.

Remember this is supposed to be fun, and it is only one day...

Well I'm going to make sure that the girls all like the dress and can make tweaks to it if they want as we make it.
So far all of them bar one love it to bits, and that's only because I haven't asked one yet!

So far I'm having fun, and I've found some fabulous music to walk down the aisle to, as well as exit.

I'm so pleased you enjoy it, I was wondering if I was starting to annoy people!
It really helps to bounce ideas off of all of you, and to have people to talk to, I know most of you are, or have been married before, so it helps to talk to supportive people who aren't pulling me in a hundred directions!

My partner really is a sweetie, when he said what he did about our plans, I felt as though the whole world stopped and it was just me and him.

I was thinking... why not use cake (the material, so to speak) but completely different? I am sorry, no clue what those are in English, so all I can do is post a link for google picture search, so you'll see what I mean. Why not make e.g. a cruise ship cake??? Or something alike, like, if he liked Ferrari, why not make two Ferraris? I actually make those myself, for fun. Made a train for my godchild and a butterfly cake for my then mother-in-law, and others... You can learn to make them yourself, too! Not as difficult as they look! In German, they're called "Motivtorten", just saying.

I think we would called that style of cake a 'themed' cake or something similar.

I might try to find something fun for him and I think the kids would have a field day at the wedding if they saw Donkey Kong or something!
Rose gold is an absolute favourite of mine, I can't stand white gold because you lose the diamonds in it, where with yellow or rose, they are accentuated.

I think I might just have a whole table of different styles of cakes, and have some fun that way, and his favourite one we can use as the 'bridal cake'.

I think his favourite is lemon meringue, and there is a shop in the country that does some fabulous sponge & mousse cakes.

Come to think of it, he actually adores vanilla slice.

My cousins had an assortment of cakes an pies for their wedding cake. I think they had one smallish cake to cut, but otherwise it was a very nice 'potluck" selection of goodies - cookies too!
