Please note that this thread is from 2012, and the OP has not been back since then; however, it's still fair game to post to it!

@Ladyghosthunter, I'm really sorry for the cruddy treatment you received at the hands of some pretty nasty employers, seems like. I hope you can find an attorney that you really believe in - they will matter a great deal.

Thank you JoeyLittle! You know with some employers, there are cliques and there are people who do not belong in the position they are in because they were never trained to do it. I've been in government over 13 years and never in my life have I seen such a terrible high school attitude in professionals with Ph. D.'s. Geez.

I got officially fired back in March, I'm not completely over it yet even though I did feel initial relief because the treatment I'd received from my EMS company since disclosing my trauma and going off on workers comp was pure hell. It destroyed me in so many ways their unwillingness to work with me to find me accommodation within their company = people I thought had my back did everything they could to trap me, coerce me to leave and make me feel worthless. I'm not worthless, stupid and I deserve to be treated with respect.

Regardless, I know how disappointing it is to be officially fired despite not being happy with your workplace. It hurts on a level you just can't seem to soothe. You deserve more than that. You deserve an employer who values you for your skill and is willing to mentor you to achieve your best - they're out there, just have faith, you'll get it eventually.....maybe I will too.

Hugs.

"You deserve an employer who values you for your skill and is willing to mentor you to achieve your best - they're out there."

Maybe in uber-competitive industries/fields this isn't the norm, but I've worked with many people like this, and to me, it just seems like good business practice, not to mention "good human practice."

Maybe (emphasis on maybe!!!!) it takes a little longer to train someone w/PTSD to do the job, but I would bet that they would be more loyal than most for the humanity shown towards them.

Hope you all have found employment situations that are "great fits" by now!
