L-tryptophan Supplements

Sooooo.... are you going to give them a go @SpikeBall? Would be interested about your feedback if you do try them. Every method is hit and miss, but if you don't give something a go, then you won't know.

This is my second day trying them. I feel a little disconnected, but I am better able to control my impulses/anger and I'm more reasonable. I don't know how that works. I'm calmer. Last night I did feel as if it wore off and made me feel a bit flat. It's also used for smoking cessation and I noticed I would have been able to overcome my cravings on it, if I were interested in doing that. I'm sure it effects everyone differently, making most of them happier, the intended effect.

i don't normally take medications. I feel altered, flat, a little empty. But maybe that's the price to pay for calming down.

It's just a dietary supplement, though. You can get pretty big boosts from drinking green tea, or calmed down by chamomile. I think turkey, dairy and soy also helps to create seratonin, and soy used to give me a big burst after a bender. I think it works more like that.

I asked in my health food stall. Does not look like you can get L-tryptophan in Australia. Wonder why?
You can buy L-tryptophan through the Happy Herb High company in Melbourne, though I think they are a chain and have stores all over. They cost around $25 for a container of the powder.

L-tryptophan can cause some side effects such as heartburn, stomach pain, belching and gas, nausea , vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. It can also cause headache, lightheadedness, drowsiness, dry mouth, visual blurring, muscle weakness, and sexual problems.

Is this when you take too much of it though? I never experienced any of these symptoms. Maybe slight nausea when drinking it with water, as it tastes terrible. If you take the recommended amount once or twice a day there should not be any side effects, unless of course you are on some psych drugs that might not mesh well with it?

Well I knew there was a reason why I have so many chickens. Eggs are a good source of Tryptophan which is a precursor for serotonin. My chickens are laying about 6 eggs a day. If I eat that many eggs then maybe all my problems will be solved??? Might die of high cholesterol levels instead though!
