I am still on some kind of manic exercise mission, like a lunatic wondering when the burn out will come. Exercise is the best medicine though and also the best distraction if you can just get into the zone.

Good on ya Sazza, take care and have fun...

Thanks, you all! It's so nice to have your support and to see how good you're all doing. It gives me some optimism that I'll have an easy time getting back into working out once this stomach thing is sorted :)

Do you have glutance intolerance?
Oh, thanks for bringing that up. I'll look into that! And thank you so much for your kind words *heart*

@Sazza: Take care, if you overdo it you'll have to pause; maybe cutting back a bit would be better, sustainability-wise :)

@Albatross: I wish you all the best for your surgery! And don't worry, I'm dragging behind with you, so it sure won't get boring ;)

EDIT: Too many smileys, aaaaaaaaaaah!!!1! *runs and hides*

Slowly working up to my full capacity for running again... started out a week ago with just 1km running, 6 walking... today up to 3.5km running, 3.5km walking in my 7km circuit.

My goal is to run only 5kms of my 7km circuit, as that is far enough for fitness. I used to do it in 25 minutes... so being older and way unfitter than previous times, I would be happy if I get it to around 35 minutes, with a total circuit time of 45 minutes.

I should add... there are several hills involved, its not flat running. I want to get my fitness up again, as its also great weight control. I can eat anything and everything I want when running every second day / daily, without worrying about weight ever.

Have been going to the gym for 1.5 hours a day for over two weeks now. They worked out a good program for me which I can slowly build up over time. At times it's hard to push myself that extra bit. Starting to see results, my body is becoming more flexible in daily movements, bending and so forth. Belly is slowly going back where it belongs. Gives me incentive to eat properly and not fall of the wagon food wise.
A little annoyed today, supposed to go to the gym this morning. The hairdresser took two hours  to do my hair so missed out. Never mind will go this afternoon at 4pm. :).
Oh I forgot to mention it's really good for the mind, as I don't have any negative thoughts when I'm there and feel great afterward.

Yep, I could never stress enough just how much exercise can help with PTSD. The natural chemicals the body releases when you work up a sweat carries on for many hours after you stop, let alone the overall psychological impact it makes when you feel better about yourself physically.

Anthony your so right. It's for me mind, body medicine. Will probably take me at least six months to achieve the results that I'm aiming for. It is helping me psychologically, taking the attention away from the obsessive thought patterns and feelings of PTSD.
Years of destructive behaviour have caused a lot of my medical problems. And none of it made me feel any better. At my age I should know better, time for a wake up call.

Am a big believer in having a double (or triple) set of exercise or workout "tools" on hand. Some call it "cross training"; when one group is worked out (eg: from weights in the gym) then water exercise or related. Mixing it up and avoiding repeating movements, will be the most sustainable. No question.

Also, old muscle injuries (in the form of myofacial adhesions) do not heal, they become "latent" and wait (in their damaged state) for something (or someone) to fix or repair them. What this means is, if you go out with sore leg muscles, and you use them hard, you will have to pay the piper later, as the buildup of damaged tissue will eventually shut you down.

Sitting and not doing anything, can create myofascial adhesions, also. These adhesions then put pressure on nerves in the legs. Stretch to prevent these. Sitting (especially bad) having mashed the glutes (and basically cut them off) making them "lazy", can put muscle/skeletal pressure on nerves in legs, giving someone sciatica from being inactive. (!)

Just back from the gym after my workout. Feel great, slowly increased time on the treadmill, rowing machine, bike and weights on the equipment. Doing well. So far have lost 2.2 kilo's in two weeks.

My blood sugar levels are lower, and have reduced my insuline intake according to the doctor's instructions. All quite mind boggling what is happening to me. I am so............ pleased, it has given me hope.:)

Some great work going on here, well done anthony keep up the great work.

Must be good seeing the helath benefits loloma, your doing great.

I am beginning to tire a little but for the moment still staying focused and definitely making the most of being in the zone. Totally agree with you all exercise works wonders, i am forever telling my GP etc that exercise is the best medicine better than any tablet they keep giving me, i have yet to convince alot of people who think i am slightly mad. i think my GP has heard it a tad too much :roflmao:.

I havent run outdoors since friday last week as my gym challenge has taken over a little, have done running on treadmill though. Need get back on streets tomorrow and get outdoors do few miles all being well.

Yer, I'm looking forward to when we move into our new place, as it has a two story gym as part of our body corporate... I should run on a treadmill due to 10 years of Army being not so nice on my knees... my right knee was hurting pretty bad last night due to the run I did yesterday morning. Once we move, I plan on only running on a treadmill, as they take that compression in your knees out with the bounce in them.
