It seems that people like to revisit the past; analyze it, cut and paste it look at it through the lens of time. The lessons of history are never learned. Perhaps it's just a part of humanity, something we'll never be able to shake.

My only analogy is this. I have a friend. His grandfather and father were both alcoholics which affected their families in a terrible way. They both died young from, liver failure. My friend is also an alcoholic, although no one besides me will tell him or say so. He has a terrible family history himself. You'd think after seeing his father and grandfather succumb to such a terrible thing that he would try to avoid their fate. He doesn't think there's a problem.

It's kind of like the political leaders today and everyday, the focus is on today not years from now when the true cost of what they do is understood and felt.

There is another lesson that the US and UK high up mucky mucks forget, and this runs right through society. You can make any deal you want, but in about 80% of this world, if the personal relationship is not there, the deal is not worth the paper it is written on.

Personal relationships take time, you need to talk and most of all you need to eat, break bread with them. Also, I dare say, if it is in their culture, you need to get drunk with them. If you eat their food, drink their liquor and manage to keep your composure through the whole thing, trust flows like a river. Then you can make a deal.

Based on our corporate/government culture of "wam bam thank you mam" It is probably safe to say we only have 1 or 2 real allies in the world. The rest don't trust us at all.

Not to spin this thread in a different direction but when the first gas crisis hit back in the '70's it should have been a wake up call to this country to not be dependent on foreign oil. If.......IF we'd gone something then and made energy we could make a national priority we wouldn't give a rats ass if everyone in the middle east killed each other over who's got the best lookin' camel.

OIL................It's the reason we're involved. It's done more to ruin our country and economy than anything else. Sorry, just hadda' rant.

Jar, I listened to T. Boone Pickens one day and he had run the numbers and he said that if we put the major motor fleets, UPS, USPS, ect., to natural gas...We could be free of foreign oil in a year. I think we buy foreign oil and are told we have to get it from the mid-east, more for political reasons than availability.

We're paying these guys to STFU!

I remember a story I heard from a person in the know and he told this great story about a little old lady that was losing her home, someone sees oily mess in corner of lot, oil, oil well, lady keeps house. Yeah, it's silly. But most folks from the deep south know that oil is everywhere. Capped off wells in the back yard. Yes, it would take more effort to get it to the refinery, but still available.

I think we're being snowed over the whole thing.

I need to wear a sign. "Here's your sign"! Naw, I got this usb thingy that was supposed cloak my IP so prying eyes weren't watching my every post. Well, as with all these things, it doesn't work. It gives me a false sense that it's working, but one look at how many ports I have open and I know.

Anyway, it's like a proxy, my signal goes to it and it goes out. Therefore the foreign flags. I'll quit using it if it bothers you guys, anyone?

Hey Sarge. I'm not sure what USB thing your using to cloak your IP. I'm guessing it is a built in proxy sever type device. You can also set this up from within your browser if you have a known good proxy.

If you are really trying to be "under the radar" you'll need to encrypt all you outgoing data with the latest as it leaves your PC else it can be picked up with various sniffers available. Just Google Finfisher it's quite remarkable. I'm sure there is I better stuff which you already know about.

Seriously if you want to be radio dark, stay off the public net. Oh and ditch the cell too.
