Not sure if this is the right place, but it seemed appropriate.

This is such a bad time of the year for a lot of people.. I know I'm having trouble with it. I thought it might be worth noting, Aussies, that Lifeline now has an online chat service available for people who are in crisis or suicidal.

If you need someone to talk to, the people at Lifeline are incredible.

Thank you for posting this, I am going to save the link to my favorites. The last time I tried calling the crisis hotline five times, I panicked and hung up every time somebody answered. The thought of talking to a stranger about my suicidal thoughts over the phone is horrific. I find the internet provides a safety barrier where I feel safer talking to people.

When I was told to call the hotline, they told me to go work a crossword puzzle. I mean, that was no help to anything.

I have found this place to be a healthy place to come. I read the threads and talk with people who really get it. To me, this is a crisis line that can ground me faster than that hotline did.

The night I called them, the police had been to my home to check my windows for safety. I was being stalked and was living in fear. The police office told me, "They are locked. You're safe." My response was, "And restraining orders stop bullets don't they?" That is when he told me to call the crisis line.

When I told my therapist what they said, he called the crisis line and read them the riot act. He let them know how to handle my calls from then on. He let them know if they didn't open my file when I called they'd get fired and never work the lines again. I love that therapist. Too bad he retired.

Thanks Cheshire - they have helped me in the last few days as well. Always too scared to call as could not imagine talking about this sort of stuff with a stranger. But, I like the online chat - I have time to think a little, can cry, it does not matter at all.

Also, always worried about the cost of call from my mobile - maybe it is free as discarded has suggested - if I find out I will post it.

Well done for letting everyone know about this.
