I just stumbled over a homepage, from Pete Walker, M.A., MFT (works as a direct search key), I'm just starting to dig into it so I have no evaluation of it's content yet, but so far I experience a lot of recognition.

I find his chain of reactions familiar, from initial abandonment to, no development of self-comfort capacity, to toxic inner-critic, to twisted contact patterns, to self-contempt, to extreme sensitivity and immediate humiliation- and despair- feelings triggering 4F acting out(fight, flight, freeze and fawn)

I will study this more, and are interested in others input!

Holy ----.

Wow. Thanks for sharing that link. A lot to read and digest. Started with the "abandonment depression" section as well. Boy do I recognize a lot of myself there. Going to bring this up next time I see my doc, barring any pressing symptoms of course.

Reading this line
Sadly, many abusive parents reserve their most harsh punishments for "talking back", and hence ruthlessly extinguish the fight response in the child
brought tears to my eyes and a remembered montage of times that talking back brought on the most severe of punishments.

I'm reading this in bits.
