I have seen my Chiropractor off and on for probably 15 yrs. Marc always comments on how rigid and tight my muscles are all the time....2 weeks ago he said that I really needed massage therapy as my neck, shoulders and back were like bricks. (Gee like I didn't already know this????) It's one of the biggest problems I have is relaxing my muscles and body.

Anyway, I mentioned to him that I drive by this place that offers fully clothed massage for $17.00 for 40 minutes. He was leery, and it made me a little leery too. BUT....... Today I just couldn't take the pain in my back, neck and shoulders any longer. So I decided to at least go and check the place out. I walked in and it was super clean, well kept and the receptionist was nice. So we talked and it turns out that they offer 2 different kinds of massage. One is hands on, and the other is a MIGUN BED!!!!

I settled on the Migun bed and for 40 minutes I let it work it's magic. I feel awesome, except for the calf of my left leg. For some reason my calf was extremely sensitive to the massage to the point that it actually hurt, and still does. I figure it's just knotted muscles that will have to work themselves out.

I would recommend this type of massage to anyone that can't handle people touching them. I actually am going back next week.... I can't wait....Hopefully it will alleviate the issues I am having with my lower back and neck....

What about acupuncture? I don't have a problem with being massaged, so I can't relate. Would acupuncture be OK for someone who doesn't like being touched? I have been doing it now for close to a year and holy cow does it ever help with stress and headaches / migraines. Just a thought

She what is a MIGUN BED???

I restarted that two years.....massage, this week. I haven't been in a while . my cousin has been going routine and she highly suggests her....so next week i start the whole "touching" treatment but she is supposed to be very good and not rough. Hopefully it brings on the proper treatment and relaxation of the muscel.

Ok, I only went the first time today, but I looked it up on google for a better explanation.

It's a bed that you lay on. Inside it has 3 separate units (with heads) that move up and down your entire body. They also move on hills and valleys within the bed so they can actually lift a part of your body slightly off the bed. The heads are Jade, and heated (infra red heat)

I loved it when it lifted my hips off the bed and the lower rollers felt like they were gently pulling my legs. Sort of like opening up my spine if that makes sense....

They also had a separate unit for my neck and head. My neck feels so good now.

I have decided to go again on Friday, and I am planning on 2 times a week for a couple of weeks. I just can't believe how much better my back and neck feels. My left calf is finally calming down. I have had problems with my foot for 2 yrs due to tight muscles in my leg. I have had Plantar Fasciitis due to tendon problems and muscles in that leg, so I am hoping it helps with this too.....

You can always google it for more info...

That is awesome....i am going to just move forward with my treatments, be optomistic at the 25 more treatments and keep my fingers crossed....if this won't work...I will research this maybe but keep your fingers crossed it is 95% effective.

if this does not work, I will google on it.

good luck with yours....

2quilt,

She said that most people see an improvement with going once a week for about 4-6 weeks. I am in so much pain and stiffness that I decided to go 2x a week for now. Plus once a month to my Chiropractor.. I have to do something, the pain is really starting to get to me...although I hide it well.

I've had good luck with acupuncture, too. Some practicioners do perform it better than others, though, so if you have a poor or painful experience it may not be indicative of acupuncture as a whole! I really miss my acu/chiro where I used to live...he was really good.

I do find that I can't tolerate acupuncture right now, though. T and I have been digging into the actual trauma (dogbite) pretty heavily lately, and I find I cannot stand even the puncture of the skinny acupuncture needles...just thinking about anything puncturing my skin and especially my hand makes me really edgy. However, I look forward to getting back to it soon, because it really helped my muscles!

thanks

Hi Mina, thanks for responding....I had been doing acupucture quite regularily for migraines/headaches, prior to my PTSD diagnosis. The only reason I stopped was that I broke my ankle in May and have only had the cast off 2 weeks now. I plan to go back and I will let him know about the PTSD and see what he can do.

I have never had a message. I do not know if I could stand it the whole idea of being touched by a stranger. I don't know if I would not just tense up or enjoy it so much that I would want a happy ending.:naughty: The idea is tempting maybe I'll discuss it with my treatment specialist.

How about just starting with a chair massage? They have them offered in WholeFoods.
I have to get massages every two weeks because I was in a car accident and my neck, back, shoulder hurts. I love massage.

The chair massage is a great idea but I don't think I am ready to be touched yet. If I get bumped in a crowd right now I make a fist and get ready to fight. The idea to be able to get pleasure from touch sounds great. I'm glad someone can receive the benefits of massage.
