I have noticed that none of the Democrats have voiced anything negative about how John McCain might have PTSD and, therefore, be unable to handle the high pressure of daily presidential decision-making. Of course, they can't really say out loud anything negative about POW's (as a group) or war veterans who return with PTSD (as a group) because that would sound unpatriotic and smack of how Viet Nam Vets were treated by the public when they returned in the 1970's. I hope that no veteran ever has to return from war to such pitiful treatment again!
But, I have heard not a peep about how McCain must suffer from PTSD after enduring a concentration camp for four years, where he was treated so badly that he now can no longer raise his arms above his elbows.
I don't know if he has ever received therapy or medication for PTSD or depression. I just wonder why the Dems have not attacked him on the suggestion that he has a mental illness, and that he could never handle the stresses of the most powerful job in the free world.
Many people with PTSD can hold full time jobs, of course, but the US presidency is a 24-hour job where the demands are more strenuous than I can imagine.

...And in case you don't watch American news, McCain picked a woman vice prez so much younger than he is that she could be his grand daughter. And, she has experience in political corruption: she fired the man who refused to fire her ex-brother in law who just so happened to be in a nasty divorce with her (Palin's) sister. Palin has already been caught lying about how many (24) phone calls were made to get her ex-brother in law fired, but Palin still claims that she did not put pressure on anyone to fire him. Lies and corruption. The perfect qualifications of a Republican politician.

And in other news, a minister for the Republicans asked the public to pray for it to rain during Barack Obama's speech Thursday night. It did not rain. What is happening, however, is that hurricane Gustav is headed directly for the gulf coast, where hurricane Katrina killed so many people almost exactly three years ago. The Republican National Convention is now considering moving the convention because of the storm. Nature can be so ironic.

I've lived in Alaska with Yupik Eskimos. Native Alaskans make up only 15% of the population. They want to have their traditional lands made into reservations so they can have a say in how they live.
Many white hunters just shot, kill, and leave. Native Alaskans are horrified by the wonton distruction of life. They respect the animals who 'allow' themselves to be killed because the animal has given his life away for the good of others.
There is a village on the coast which is 'dry' -no alcohol. One day a non-native truned up and started a bar and liquior store. he said it was afree country and he could do what he wanted. The village leaders were furious. They have been trying hard to help those affected by alcohol thus their decision to be a dry village. There are many native villages that are dry. If this village had been declared a reservation they could have asked that man to leave and not come back.
Gov. Palen has not been helpful concering the rights of minorities in her state. I wonder how she will do with it as V.P./Pres?

I see her as causing worse destruction to human rights than Bush. There are still people in Gitmo who were rounded up 7 years ago and are sitting in there with no human rights, no Geneva Convention rules, and no Habeus Corpus. I highly suspect that many other people are sitting in secret American government prisons in other countries, who live under that same 'persona nongrata' status. Republicans have a history for not paying any attention to the minorities' rights: Gay rights, racial minority rights, transgendered rights, immigrants, whomever they decide is an enemy combatant, and Native Americans. It makes me sad to think that Republicans exist.
