So, my car is almost 10 yrs old, but in pretty good shape for that age. Unlike me! But, there has been some clunking that's driving me a bit batty. So, I brought it in to one place the other day and was told it's struts and shocks and will cost almost $600. f*cking OUCH!!!!!

So, I looked up how to tell if this is the issue and then tested my car. Honestly I didn't find a problem. So off to a different mechanic..... this one takes it for a drive, brings it back, put it up on the lift and ( watched him) really check out EVERYTHING. He pounded on things, shook things, looked with flashlight and bigger lights. Came out and said it was the right stabalizing bar and bushing and ball joint Recommend I do both sides. To the cost of..1000.00. Almost shit my pants on the spot.

Brought it back to the first place, asked the guy to step outside with me, showed him by pushing on my car that I doubt it's shocks and struts, and told him I brought it someplace else and they said it wasn't the issue it was "something" different. He asked what they found? Told him, " I didn't tell them, who diagnosed it. But did tell them what you found AFTER they looked at my car. Now, I'm not telling YOU what they found. So FIND IT!!!!!" If they don't, I guess I will end up going to yet another mechanic, most likely the dealer, so they can "screw me" without using Vaseline.

I f*cking hate being a woman that is considered dumb and easy to screw.....

The only time I felt really secure about not being taken for granted by mechanics was when I worked for an auto parts company. I helped with the deliveries and managed the service accounts, so I was often behind the scenes listening to their stories and observing them in action. I learned real quick who to trust and who to avoid like the plague. Unfortunately, the latter outweighed the former. Be sure to ask if they can get any of the parts from a junkyard vs. buying all new stuff, whenever possible. May you cross paths with someone honest and reputable.

Do you have an express lube in your area? I have found them to be honest, affordable, and dependable.

So, brought my car BACK to the first place this morning @8 like they asked. The service guy and 1 mechanic took it for a drive and then brought it back. A little while later they called me into the garage to show me what they thought the issue was. Stabalizing bar, and control arm. No ball joints involved. Price... $145 for The stabalizing bar which they replaced today, and had to order the control arm, which will be in on Tuesday. That will cost $350. So, $500 total, but at least it's not $1000.

I went out and bought them a dozen Dunkin Doughnuts and a box of donut holes as a thank you!!!!

So now I think my anxiety will finally go down, and I can stop being a bitch!!!

And the clunking has stopped!!!!!
